Not exactly. It was Zaraki mentally unblocking his full potential. He was restraining himself of his powers all this time, including his ability to hear his zanpaktou. Makes good sense really

I think it is crazy that base Zaraki is the strongest in SS. When he gets his Bankai he will be top 3, as I think he will defeat the second strongest enemy, while Ichigo obviuosly defeats the strongest.
