Who else has seen this movie? I've been watching this movie for the past 2 weeks, and I can honestly say this is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen yet. I haven't finished it, but from the looks of it, it appears that it is going to get better. :D

What's your take on this movie?

If you have not seen this movie, I definitely recommend it

Because Achilles dies from getting hit in the chest and not the heel. Because that makes sense, Just another shitty Hollywood remake.

The original from the 1960's was far more accurate in it's portrayal.
Newsflash; the Illiad was shitty as hell to begin with. Accurate portrayal would mean half of the movie is the gods yelling at each other and having piss poor screen time.

The original tale was absurd and the newer one was by far more realistic.

It was cool but if you like those types of movies I suggest you check out Alexander. That was pretty good and did a better job of keeping up with the history behind the story than Troy.

Let's not forget both versions left out the fact that he had a male lover as well...

Haha, yeah. That was an aspect of Greco-Roman society that this one wasn't too comfortable with showcasing. XD

And that was supposed to be Patroklos, right? They always referred to him as "Achilles Dearest Friend" during the Illiad.

It seems you never saw the 1960's version nor know the story of troy.

I've read the Illiad. Of course I know the story of Troy. That's the only actual attempt to account for Troy. It's not realistic. Nobody is impregnable with the exception of an area at their heel. That's horse crap. Being shot through the chest is plausible. It's called a remake for a reason. They get to use creative liberties. Which in this case made the movie immensely better.
