For the Manga series begining, how far ahead did Kishi plan for the story? Like did he have the Juubi revival all planned out, or did he just focus on one part of the story at a time? Did he always plan on making Itachi a good guy?

He planned the general story since beginning, including Itachi's background and Madaras

I believe he already plan what the end are but as he has team and need to oblige the shonen jump so he might have to change a little of their story xd

I doubt he planned too far ahead. Sure, now he probably has the ending figured out, I mean he was more or less able to tell us when Naruto was going to end. But before that...I don't know. I think the Tailed Beasts was something that he made up as the story progressed - no one in season one uses that word, not even to describe Naruto or Gaara. Not to mention their beasts are ve-he-hery different in terms of abilities, for instance.

I honestly believe he had it planned from the beginning. Theres a picture in like chapter three of Kid Kakashi with Obito and Rin.

Most authors create an outline of the whole story before even writing/drawing it. He probably had most of the story figured out in the beginning. But he might have changed little things along the way.

I'm guessing form the very beginning he had things like Naruto becoming Hokage, Sasuke leaving, a final fight, and how he would get there. However I'm sure there are things that he has put in that wasn't thought of at first, because Naruto is quite complex and it would be difficult for anyone to come up with something like this without changing things.

Basically this. I know he had Tobi being obito planned out since the beginning though

He planned the starting and the ending..... No writer can plan the whole thing.. without putting it on the paper.

The ending too? What makes you say that? If it weren't for Tobi running around with Sasuke on a leash while laughing like a maniac, I'd have thought the Pain arc would be the final one.

Why would you have thought that was the last arc.. If Naruto wasn't even gonna be Hokage.. and Sasuke hadn't comeback?

Also, its a common writing thing, to outline the Starting and the ending.. and then write the middle part while going along with the story.

What I mean is, it had a very "final-esque" touch to it, wouldn't you agree? Had Sasuke been 'rescued' and Tobi just another Akatsuki member fodderized, the story could have ended right then and there, with the epilogue focusing on Naruto becoming Hokage of the newly rebuilt village (I just suspect Tsunade would have been either dead or retired at this point) and finally accepted by everyone in the village.

I get that, but doesn't he have demands from publishers and other people? Things might change. I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me if the Pain Invasion arc was originally planned to be the final arc.
