I just thought of this today and thought if anybody could prove me wrong?

In every single Naruto story arc ever, Kishimoto will introduce new really important characters, I can't think of any arc reaching way back to the chunnin exams where we haven't met a whole new cast every single arc. We're even in a war where every character so far is supposedly meant to be given coverage and Kishimoto's STILL throwing new characters at us! I can't work out whether I love it or hate it.

I mean, his character's aren't exactly bad and they work where needed but would it hurt just to use the character's you've already got every now and then Kishi?

(This isn't a criticism, it just strikes me as odd for a writer)

Yeah. I hated the introduction of Dodai. Most random crap ever. Kishi is the man nonetheless.

That usually happens in all manga and anime. New adventure = New allies and enemies.

I agree. What does the cloud squad have to do with plot? Taka doesn't even make sense, Sasuke is good enough solo. All of the Kage bodyguards are just stupid too, they are the Kage, thats like Bruce Lee needing a bodyguard. There are too many characters popping up that not all will get to shine. Kiba has been in it since day 1, and he hasnt even had a worthy fight yet.

Well, he could develop the characters he already had but you should take into consideration the fact that new characters had to added because the plot demanded that too. Since he was about to move into a "shinobi war" arc , he was obliged to add more and more characters instead of using that time to develop the ones that already existed.

It's also a bit of marketing based decision based on which characters have the most fans and which not and also on the fact that the reader is always pleased to see new faces.

Makes sense to see other ninjas in a war where every bloody ninja is in it. Doesn't mean he needs to expand on them.

Though it would be nice to see the K11 and some other long known characters getting more panel time.

I don't really agree. He utilizes recurring characters enough, like the ppl in Konoha who we see a lot of. These past few arcs, he had to introduce as many new characters as possible because he was setting up for the war arc. The war arc requires a lot of characters from all the villages so only using past characters wouldn't have worked.

I actually admire Kishi for having side characters and not forgetting about them. Even ppl like Kotetsu and Izumo from Konoha pop up a lot even tho they're minor. The character burst didnt start until the Kage Summit arc really, so I don't feel like there are too many.

In short, he does use all the characters he already has.

Wtf? Those characters all have their respective purposes! The cloud squads are needed for the war, Taka has always been important, of course Kages need bodyguards and that was another way to introduce new characters for future parts in the war. If all these characters you just mentioned didnt exist, the story wouldn't go anywhere. Kiba can't replace the roles of ppl like them

Cool reactions here

+its more the huuuuuuge amount of focus the edo tensei got rather than actually taking them down that really started to grind me a bit.
It's not as if I dislike any of the new characters, it's just you really do have to wonder why he put so much effort into integrating characters like Aoba, Shizune, Sai, Yamato so strongly as if they'll play an actual part in the manga later but like....never do.

Also it's been doing this since day 1- remember how many characters they threw at us in the Chunnin Exams and then from there out it was just constantly meeting new people. Hey Jiraiya, we're going to go look for someone called Tsunade now. SOUND FOUR. AKATSUKI! The manga is all about expanding the universe the whole time and not stopping for air- which is just like, a really weird move but I like it.

Well, he could develop the characters he already had but you should take into consideration the fact that new characters had to added because the plot demanded that too. Good point. Hey, if Kishimoto's going for scale- let's let him do it y'know?

Well if kishi didn't introduce new characters the story would become boring or wouldn't make sense!
