Minato had to be somewhat close to 22(if not 22). When Kakashi was up to be selected as Hokage, the elder mentioned Minato was even younger when he became Hokage. Kakashi is 30.

So you're looking at the absolute oldest, 29. It's likely mid 20s at the oldest because I don't know why the elder would even mention an age difference of just a year. For them to bring it up it's probably a considerable difference.

very interesting read, i would never have thought of that. I always assumed that minato was twenty-seven or when he died tbh, the exact logic escapes me but this seems way more accurate than my estimate. once my easter holidays come up i'll think i'll revisit the timeline and make a complete one centered around the most major characters, almost all of the information i need is there now.

This thread should be correct since most people with close ninja registeration numbers graduate the academy at the same age. So the Mikoto being Nawaki's age(the thread that ties this all together) is strong enough.

Jiraiya died at age 54. The Uchiha massacre happen 8 years before Jiraiya's death so Jiraiya was 46 years old when the clan was wiped it. Mikoto was 35 years when the clan was wiped out. So when Jiraiya was 46, she was 35. Meaning there is an 11 year difference between them.


Nawaki died at age 12, Mikoto was 12 as well when Nawaki died. Jiraiya was 12+11=23 when Nawaki died.

Nawaki's death happened when-
Tsunade had a different hairstyle, Jiraiya's red facial marking wasn't long enough to reach his face.

Tsunade's hairstyle had changed when she and her teammates fought Hanzo and Jiraiya's facial marking still hadn't reached the end of his face so the Ame orphan training happened BEFORE Jiraiya trained Minato. The Ame orphan training was 3 years. We know Jiraiya was definitely 23 years or more when he met the Ame orphans so he was 26-27 years old when he finished training them. So Jiraiya must have started training Minato when he was 26-27 years old. Also, looking closely at the picture of Jiraiya with his three genin, his facial marking was already long enough to cover his whole face. Remember that when Jiraiya trained Nagato, the facial marking didn't run down his entire face. This means without a doubt that Jiraiya trained Nagato BEFORE Minato.
We know Minato graduated the Academy at age 10. So he was 10 years old when he was put under a 26-27 year old Jiraiya. This means the age difference between Jiraiya and Minato is 16 or 17 years.


Remember that Jiraiya died at 54, when Naruto was 16 years old. Meaning Jiraiya was 54-16=38 years old when Naruto was born. Remember that the age difference between Minato and Jiraiya is 16 or 17 years so at the time Naruto was born, Minato was 38-16=22 years old or 38-17=21 years old.

Minato was either 21 or 22 when Naruto was born.


Kakashi is 30 years old currently, and Naruto is 16. Therefore, Kakashi was 14 years old when Naruto was born. If Minato was 22 at Naruto's birth and Kakashi was 14, there is an 8 year difference in Kakashi and Minato's age. Remember that Kakashi graduated the academy at the age of 5, however Obito and Rin(same age as Kakashi) graduated at the age of nine. So Team Minato was formed when Obito, Rin and Kakashi were 9 years old, 5 years before Naruto was born.


Remember that Kakashi was 14 years old when Minato died(at age 21-22) and Team Minato was formed 5 years prior. So Minato became a Jounin sensei when he was 22-5=17 years old. Therefore, Minato became a Jounin sometime before he was 17 years old at most.

So Minato-

Left Academy at age 10

Became Jounin BEFORE age 17(meaning not directly at age 17 so he could have become Jounin at 16, 15 or less. As seen from Kakashi's case, a Jounin doesn't have to take students immediately after becoming a Jounin)

Died at age 21-22.

This is great bro. We also made a calculation of Minato's age before and we arrive at age 22. Don't listen to those haters who tried to bring you down. The more they tend to find an error on this, the more it will go to your favor. Saying that Jiraiya did not train Minato after he trained Nagato is pure dumb..why? Because if he did not train Minato right after that or it took him 2 yrs after, then it means that Minato died at age 20 or less. Either of this, it will increase Minato's hype..LOL at them. You know who I am referring to...=D
