i'm fully aware of who obito was referring to. But plans changed, did they not? sasuke was indeed supposed to be the pawn alongside obito on the mazo, but things got thrown off-track due to kabuto's "battle power."

...and now, madara is that pawn alongside obito on the mazo. kabuto had obito on his heels but he managed to flip the script.

what pawn ?? .... wasn't madara the one who gave obito a plan (EMP) ?? wasn't it madara who shaped obito's mentality ?? obito just got lucky that kabuto joined him and revived madara in an edo state, coz if things were going perfectly in obito's favor (to revive madara with the rinnegan) then obito wouldn't have had anything on madara (madara needs him at the moment). obito just got lucky (didn't see it coming) but it won't last for long.

Main reason Madara used Obito was to revive him by making Nagato use rinne tensei no jutsu but Nagato died so he needed Sasuke..

and now since obito has rinnegan Madara wants obito or rather obito himself is going to use the jutsu to revive madara and proceed with the Project Tsukyomi plan here it will cleat it hear....
