sounds a lot like Itachi to me.

No problem. I had also thought of "wisdom", but it's a bit far-fetched to say that a 7 year old is on par with the 20-30 year olds of the time in that respect. Hyperbole much?

I can't see a 7 year old Confucius. Hiruzen was simply being kind in Itachi's honour.

Sure you could look at it that way, but you also have to take into account that if he were Hokage he wouldn't have any intell on Obito's group of tailed beast hunting groupies.
