So Sharingan activation = Despair?

Does it mean that every Uchiha with Sharingan experienced that despair? If we think about it, Tobirama may be right. Remember that Sasuke for example awakened his Sharingan during the massacre probably because of the despair of losing his family that night. Concerning Itachi we don't really know but Tobi said he experienced many loses caused by the war, so it may be a reason

Probably the reason why not many Uchiha had Sharingan. Because they didn't experienced despair, and thus not having enough of hate(like Itachi said to Sasuke in part1)

I have to agree with you on everything except from the Sasuke part.I don't remember Sasuke having sharingan during that night I though he awakened it in his fight with Haku when both he and Naruto were in danger.

No, he awakened it during the Uchiha massacre.

Though... the question now becomes from what 'loved' despair did Uchiha Shisui, Madara, and Izuna unlock theirs from? The manga earlier gave us the preconceived notion that Izuna and Madara "really trained hard" and unlocked their Mangekyou just like that...
