Can Obito Awaken His Own Rinnegan?

Even though Obito is using Nagato's Rinnegan, how come he couldn't awaken his own Rinnegan?

I mean he has the MS, and Senju DNA, and yet he still didn't awaken his own?

Wouldnt he need both his own eyes and some how get ems and then awaken the rinnegan him and kakashi have one eye a peace unless some way him and kakashi get some crazy link to there eyes and some how get the rinnegan.

Perhaps you need ems other than that it supposedly takes a long time. Madara didn't get it till he was almost dead.
