Tennessee Senator Calls Games a ‘Bigger Problem than Guns’
“Because video games affect people.”

Tennessee Senator Lamar Alexander has called video games “a bigger problem than guns.” Speaking on MSNBC's The Daily Rundown, Alexander condemned games but said he doesn’t expect anti-gun or game bills to catch on due to the First and Second Amendments.

"I'm going to wait and see on all of these bills," Alexander said. "I think video games is a bigger problem than guns, because video games affect people. But the First Amendment limits what we can do about video games and the Second Amendment to the Constitution limits what we can do about guns. So the details matter to me. I'm going to be skeptical of any of these proposals and examine them in light of the Second Amendment to the Constitution."

Alexander’s appearance coincides with a Senate hearing today discussing gun violence in the United States. This is one of many instances of video games entering into the debate in recent weeks, following President Obama asking congress to commission a study on violent games and a proposed bill from West Virginia Senator Jay Rockefeller.

Alexander’s comments follow video game condemnations from other politicians recently, including Senators Leland Yee and Chris Murphy last week and Missouri representative Diane Franklin earlier this month.

Lol, "I'm going to wait and see on all of these bills," Alexander said. "I think video games is a bigger problem than guns, because video games affect people."

Is that word for word?

You gotta put the blame somewhere...
How about the parents?
1. Understand this is nothing more than politics Neither Obadope or Alexander know their ass from a hot rock about guns or games... But they DO know how to play the system to get votes and contributions...

2. And yes! What about those parents?? when your letting a 10yr old play Grand theft auto and he digs slipping the skank a $20 bill then shooting her and kicking her out the door... whose to blame there? Don't get me wrong I still belong to a UT2004 sniper clan and ran servers for lots of shooters...

damn to think he is representing my state......It isnt the video games, it is the bad parenting and corrupt society, that is leading to the shootings. Also it is the drugs, and the likely modified food we eat....so in essence many americans eat crap, and since they are what they eat, are crap.

Video games are irrelevant. People have played violent games all through history, but never go as crazy as people today.

Guns arent the problem either, the problem is what drives a person to go crazy and try to kill everyone. The gun is simply a tool. for example here is a tool commonly used. It is not used for what you would expect.

I don't see how: If there's no guns for people who play video games to get, how can we really utilize them.
They want to restrict our guns then restrict our video games!
