People of the united states(and other countries if this applies to you I'm not sure if it does or doesn't) do you think the country, companies, and schools should get rid of the race/ethnicity on applications and other forms. I personally doesn't think it should matter what your race or ethnicity is so why should we have to fill it out?

Maybe it's so you can be more culturally sensitive? Idk. I don't think it should matter one way or another.

I know but I'm saying I don't think it should matter. I have a friend who is a Canadian and I thought he was black but he inform me that he isn't black or a black Canadian he is just canadian. So I was wondering why we have to label ourselves in America. Why can't they just consider us Americans?

I would especially like to hear what people in other countries have to say about this.

It's a personal detail, and therefore I think it's correct. We sometimes try to look further into things than we actually should, meaning we easily label something racist when it's about race, even though it has no deep meaning behind it. There's nothing wrong with asking about it, since it's just protocol.

Most of time you can opt not to give your race but I think sometimes they just want that information for statistical purposes, especially schools. Idk why but schools like selling themselves as "diverse" so their pamphlets come with info like '60% this, 20% that'.

I hope they don't think that stuff would seriously influence someone's decision on where to attend lol but yea, I think they should just get rid of that all together

^This, I don't see any problem with it. If it's used in a racist fashion, than sure it would be racist. The information itself is not inherently racist.
