Deidara Is Extremely Overated... By Kishi

I know what most of you will say, that Kishi dictates what characters are powerful and which are not, but let's look at this how it would appear on paper:

Deidara: A man with high chakra reserves who has mouths embedded into his hands. These mouths chew and infuse clay to turn it explosive. The hands can also manipulate the clay to take various forms, such as birds, and then become animated to find and explode on a target.

Pretty impressive, I admit. But when we break down Gaara...

Gaara: A young adult with massive chakra reserves, thanks to the One-Tailed demon, Shukaku, that resides inside him. Gaara was regarded as one of the most powerful ninja early on in Shippuden. He manipulates sand to attack and defend himself. Gaara's "Ultimate Defense" of hardened sand reacts instantly to any attack, without his input. His jutsu has proven to be some of the deadliest in Naruto and early on in Shippuden.

Honestly, Deidara seems out of his league here. He should not have defeated Gaara IMO, but that's just me.

Does anyone else think Deidara is overated, or do you think he really is shown to his potential?

lol he defeated gaara,...enough said(though gaara didnt use shikaku and had to defend sunagakure) on the other hand if deidara went all out he could have destroyed whole village...so no ..your argument is invalid^^

if anything Deidara is underrated! he has shown to be pretty intelligent as well as holding some particularly dangerous techniques with his clay bombs

I don't see how Deidara would stand a chance against Gaara in a 1-on-1 fight.

Deidara is extremely underrated and if I didn't have to go into work I would really get into this. With his abilities he has/had the potential to be top 10 easily. His versatility and power is often unavoidable, I think you might want to re-read or watch the anime.

didnt meant to be mean dude^^ but its pretty obvious..manga showed us deidara beat him..what else do you need? ^^ i already mentioned the circumstances...

Besides explosives, he doesn't have much else. His clay bombs take a bit to prepare as well. Deidara is in no way close to top 10.

He's one the of the most well rounded characters in the manga. He took sasuke down (except for that PNJ horse****).
He's one of the smarter characters, high range fighting, managed to fight off Team Gai without any arms, etc.

Without the village, in a 1on1 fight, what could Deidara do?

The village gave gaara an advantage, had Gaara not been surrounded by infinite sand, and if deidara had intent to kill Gaara would have been smacked around twice as fast.
