Have you never been drawn into a book or TV show? If we didn't feel attached to the characters and start caring about what happens to them, then there would be no reason to keep following the story.

Unfortunately, it seems he thinks his opinion on the matter is absolute, and that any and all approaches other people have towards the Manga are pointless, weird and nonsensical... Like pairings and defending characters against haters.

Kishi created characters that ppl CARE about. It's part of his talent. If no one gave a **** about the characters beyond punches and rasengans, the manga would have no true value. Discussing possible relationships is as much a part of the show as anything else. If we were meant to completely ignore that aspect, Kishi would have never gave so many characters their respective crushes.

Complaining about it is stupid. It takes more than crap blowing up to engage an audience. We see the characters as more than just fighting machines. We care about the other parts of their lives just as much.

I think that fails to understand the point of conversation. I don't think anyone, here, has been trying to make you feel bad about anything (well, at least not yet). Instead, they have been trying to illustrate how your logic is lacking or flawed.

Not every word uttered by another person in conflict with yours is meant to harm you. Though I suppose with your above views, it makes sense why you would feel this way. Used to be somewhat similar when I was younger.

Also I want to add that why it's so weird to me is that people get WAY too involved and concerned over fictional relationships. I've seen people cuss each other on this site because they were arguing on this subject.

It's ridiculous, they are FICTIONAL, there is no reason to feel so much need to protect them and defend them.

People get into more flaming wars over top ten rankings, and 1v1s than anything else. Some people are into it, let 'em do what they want. I'd say it's more odd to be concerned over the people concerned about Naruhina ect. Do you have nothing better to do?

I honestly don't care all that much. Naruto could end up with either Hinata or Sakura and it wouldn't make much difference to me.
