If Sasuke wanted to speak with those who've witnessed history then he should have just gone directly to the two elders. They were already alive when Hashirama ruled up until Tsunade's reign, the previous Hokages don't even know Tsunade is Hokage. If Sasuke wanted to see the whole picture, both the good and the dark side of the village, then he should have just talked to the Konoha Council Elders. That would have saved him the trouble of reviving a dangerous person like Orochimaru.

His identity isn't the point. Obito told Sasuke that the incident was a natural disaster. Minato will tell him that the masked man caused it. Even if neither of them knows Obito's identity it will change Sasuke's perspective on the story.

But these two didn't know what happened when the Uchiha joined with the Senju clan so at least for that Sasuke would need the Hashirama & Tobirama for that part of history. & for the part of the Kyubi attack on Konoha, he would need Minato as the 2 elders might not have a full knowledge of who was behind it. & Hiruzen didn't necessarily walk in the same path as the 2 elders when he was Hokage
