How are Sharingan eyes taken away?

For a Sharigan or any eye to be use by a non member of a clan it must be taken and inserted in it's new host active,Both Kakashi and that Guy with the Hyuga eye are prime examples, that is why they both have them covered when not in use or they would die from chakra depletion. The victim must be alive and probably drug, Obito gave His willingly to friend, but enemies must use some kind of drug to keep the eye active for transplant,otherwise the victim would turn it off and the enemies can't use it.

Not true. Many years Kakashi was thinking, that Obito is dead, and his (Kakashi's) sharingan was functioning perfectly. If he knew that his sharingan will go off only after the death of Obito, all these years Kakashi would be searching Obito, because he would know, that Obito is alive (Cause his sharingan didn't go off).

All sharingans are charged by the users chakra, and a small solar pannel in the top of the eye. The solar pannel is there so they can be transplanted.

Read again Obito keep it own so that Kakashi could use it. Uchiha and Hyuga turn off the eye when they know their ready to die so no enemies can use it against their clan, think man you don't see the rest of the other villages going eye wild do you? Instead the number of non Uchiha and Non Hyuga eye users is at the moment 2 people and they can't deactivate their eyes, their on 24/7. Thats why they cover it.

Might instead give the eye more endurance so as not to go blind,that is a good question one that Orochimaru might know.
