The manga and databook didn't confirm any of it. The key phrase is "It was said" im the sentence "It was said he cutba bolt of lightning in half with it."

If you have absolute proof that Kakashi did it, as in a panel of him doing it or exact confirmation, please post it.

In one of the anime episodes where the Allied Shinobi forces were mopping up one swordsman or another it showed younger Kakashi slicing a lightning bolt in half.

OT: Kirin is far more powerful than a standard lighting bolt, therefore it will kill the person using raikiri. Look at the Kakuzu and Hidan Arc, when Kakashi uses raikiri on Kakuzu's Raiton: False Darkness. His hands are in pretty bad shape, and he looks drained as hell. That was a B-Ranked Technique, and was made through lightning made from chakra. Kirin is an S-Ranked technique, made of pure elemental lightning, and it was able to destroy the massive Uchiha Hideout. I don't think a raikiri or two will be able to stop that

So that's 20 million billion bits of information every second that can be processed with the human brain. Now the average reaction time for humans is something like .14 to .33 seconds. So obviously the time it takes to process human movements is dramatically longer than the time it takes the brain to Process a thought. So with that being said, Itachi would have been more able to active his susanoo than kakashi activating Rakiri, then actually having the time to lift his hand up and strike said lightning.

Actually, the thing is, it never happened.

You see, there is a concept called canon. If something is canon, then it happened. Anime-only events are not canon, so it never happened.

As for my stance on the topic, Imo The statement that Kakashi cut a lightning bolt is nothing more than a legend , either exaggerated as time passed by, or completely false..,Ofc we'll never know for sure if it's true or not... But if we look at what Kakashi is capable of in the manga, It doesn't match up with the preternatural abilities and reflexes needed to cut a bolt of lightning that touches the ground in about 1/1000th of a second




On a side note..This thread needs to be locked.. It's getting out of hand, people are just attacking him

Gai said it was a legend, which doesn't confirm anything but that it's possible. And given Kakashi's speed and the speed of lightning, it's very impossible.

I've seen many characters say stuff that never happened in the actual series,the only time Kakashi countered an electrical attack was from Kakazu and looked at what the Jutsu did to his hands.

It completely destroyed his gloves and even made his hand produce steam so it must've caused some pain to his hands.
And picture an actual lightning bolt going towards his whole body instead of his hands...
