That's what the manga is for, you read it and then you think about it on your own. You don't just consider every word that was said in it as a fact. >_>

For me, the moment where I thought Naruto might have caught up to his father was when he fought the Raikage and dodged his punch.

Not anywhere near as smart. I don't think his base reaction speed is as fast as Minato's, and his chakra control isn't on point as Minato's either. Minato could create a Rasengan as big as Naruto's Big Ball Rasengan with one hand.

Bro.....Naruto just created a Rasen Shuriken on each hand. That's nature and shape manipulation combined on both hands!!!
Then he gave the entire shinobi army his own specially moulded chakra cloaks!
Naruto's chakra prowess far surpasses Minato's! That is a fact.
I am saying his other aspects don't fully match up to Minato's yet, but he's almost there.

to be honest...hell no he hasnt surpassed minato...In terms of intellect? no, naruto isnt as smart as other ninjas. he just goes in for the hit without thinking of any weaknesses or strategies to take out his opponent...The only battle that I recall him actually using his brain was the battle between him and neji at the chuunin exams.

Naruto has used strategy in every single fight he has had so far, each one surpassing the previous one.
The 2 strategies against Pain and the one against Obito stand out the most.

you can have all the power in the world, but what good is it gonna do for you if you dont know how to use your brain. naruto has alot of power but all he do is attack head first without thinking first. minato, kakashi, and itachi isnt no where near as overpowered as naruto but the reason they are so feared and win battles is because they are intelligent motherlovers. intellect is an aspect that naruto needs to work on. if he becomes just as intelligent as minato then there is no doubt naruto can beat there a**.

the battle between him and pain was grandma and grandpas strategies my dude. and the battle with him and obito was all kakashi's ideas and strategies.

Naruto destroyed Naraka path and almost got all the Pain's at once with his own strategy which was brilliant. Then he destroyed Tendo by mixing in his clones with the falling rocks from the Chibaku Tensei, using them later on to withstand Shinra Tensei and landing a Rasengan within the 5 second interval.
Naruto was the one who strategised using Kakashi's Kamui withing seconds, he sent a clone via Kakashi's Kamui into Obito's dimension and then used a Bijuu Dama to cover all of Obito and made him intangible outside, so the clone inside had a full target. That was absolutely magnificient! And that is how we got to see Obito's face!
You are not giving Naruto the credit he deserves. He may not be a quick thinker like Minato, but when it counts he pulls off some of the most brilliant strategies seen in the entire story!

Manga first said he surpassed him in sage made(Fukasaku), then said he didn't surpass him in Kyuubi Mode(Yamato), and now you think it did it again...>_> When are you going to learn to think for yourself?who cares? manga said naruto has surpassed him so what's the point of caps locking old sh1et
By the way, Kurama only said, that Naruto had surpassed them in the molding and dispersing of chakra. Don't jump to conclusions every single time a character makes a statement, learn to analyse!
