good topic, i also believe Danzo had alot to do with it but remember it was Sai's intel that told Danzo that Tobi is really Madara and that turned out to be FALSE so Danzo didnt even know who was really under Tobi's mask

so no he didnt know as much as you say, but yeah he seemed to have something to do with it

If you think Danzo even had a shred of loyalty in him for Hiruzen's Konoha, you're sorely mistaken.

He held no loyalty for Hiruzen's reign but he was a fanatical loyalist when it came to Konoha, that is manga fact.
All of this speculation is some what logical. Even Tsunade knew that Danzo purposely undermined Hiruzen's leadership but I don't think he would go to the extreme of actually accepting the aid of someone who styled himself as Madara, no matter his motives.

In my eyes, he was the purest form of scum on earth. I wouldn't put anything past him. And I'm only connecting the dots here, this is all still speculation and nothing more. But we do know for a fact that Danzo knew Obito as Madara, Obito was speaking to him much too familiarly if you ask me.
