Dubnos

Fae for "Black World", Dubnos is where Fae who have lost all sense of self and purpose are sent to rot, for a Fae without either of these things are worth less than nothing in this world. As a result it is a place where the very idea of "hope" is long extinguished. Twisted, gnarled trees sparsely dot the landscape, long since devoid of any life or vitality. The areas most prevalent feature, aside from the rotting trees and ground, is the perpetual mist that hangs over the region, making every breath a struggle, inviting one to easily slip into an eternal slumber. Fae of all kinds from all corners of Tírnan can be found here in various states of decay. Some wander aimlessly, others slowly await death's cold, comforting embrace. Regardless of the cause, the intent is for them to pass on without affecting, or in some cases infecting, other Fae with their "condition". The other Fae hope they will return to the world, and be reborn as someone with a more defined visualization of themselves and what they want to achieve in life.

Many kinds of Unseelie have made this region their home, subsisting off the flesh and blood of their fallen brethren. This act of cannibalism warps them beyond any recognition, ironically making these criminals worth even less than the crestfallen. It is said that deep within it's depths lie a dark secret regarding Albion's past, though none who have entered have ever returned with this information.

As a part of the Fae Domain of Tírnan, any and all attempts to perform Jutsu and techniques that seek to directly influence, alter or draw from the land are met with immediate failure. These include altering the environment with Earth, Water and similar Elemental Releases, as well as the gathering of Natural Energy, for Modes like Sage Mode and Dokkodo.

Previous post.

This post marks the beginning of my mission using these storyboard elements:
- Scout potential threats (3).

Musashi arrived in a new segment of the Outer Lands, and once more came across an area that was bizarre and unnerving. Unlike the serene Pool of Reflection that she had just departed from, here - once more in the thick Cedar Forest - it was practically like swimming. It was almost raining, with the amount of water pouring down from the canopy, and the thick gray vines like those found in the Stranglevine Woods were present here as well. While not quite as dense as the previous area, they were still very dense, and the added humidity didn't do anything to make the area any less unnerving.

More and more, as Musashi saw these strange vines, she felt that they were not simple flora. Maybe they could be written off as an invasive species that made there way to this continent long before it was discovered, and spread as to attempt to choke out the local variety, but...Musashi couldn't place it, but it felt more sinister than that. Not that the goal was any different.

She had to closely guard her lantern; luckily the oil in it continued to burn and shed light, but the sheer amount of moisture in the air, and dripping from above, meant that the flame could be squashed at any moment. Even the ground underfoot was slick and slippery, saturated with water, despite the layer of foliage and leafs that were littered across it.

Her soul sensing did not detect anything unusual - perhaps a few individuals of the local wildlife deeper in different areas of the forest, but...

There wasn't so much here in the way of an immediate threat that Musashi could detect, but something was tugging on her, increasingly convincing her that something had or would happen upon these lands, and it would not be gentle.

She continued to cut a path - when needed - with one of the swords she purchased from the Ronin of the Dark Tower. She couldn't quite place why, but something in her said that cutting these vines with Myōjingiri would not be a good idea. Perhaps nothing would come of it at all, but...If she were to try it, she didn't want to do so in a place so rife with them.

She continued to take notes, doing her best to shield her notebook and map she was drawing with her body: the thick area was difficult to traverse, and the entire area was uncomfortable. There would need to be serious terraforming done, if anyone wanted to transport anything through this area - the entire forest, really. She supposed if people wanted lumber, this was godsend, but with the nature of the Land of Fire, just wood would likely not be anything special as far as resources went.

She would need to - at some point - ask someone if they knew anything about these strange vines. She couldn't be the only person exploring, and maybe a horticulturist could give some insight. She had contemplated writing to Emiya, but as she really did not have much to report - and the fact the man was blacksmith, not a florist - she decided against it.

Continuing her venture across the Outer Lands, Musashi trekked on, aiming to explore as much as possible.

Leaving Landmark for the Western Duskmire (275).
