Slowly, but steadily Rukia created distance between her and that last encounter. No matter how much times passes she doesn't think that she will ever forget that creature, if no other reason than rabbits are her favorite animal.
Good thing hares and rabbits are different... Rukia mumbles to herself.
Leaving the forest behind, Rukia now finds herself in a place that's the complete opposite. Where the forest was green, lush and full of life; this place was rocky, brown, and quiet. With one of the prominent features of this area being massive pillars, one of which is now looming on the horizon in front of Rukia.
As she nears she notices some strange things. Strangely the area around the pillar was void of any other sort of rock formations. Even stranger was that the ground had small impact indents. Rukia now stands outside of the nearly perfect circle created by said indents. Could she easily just circumvent the area by going around? Yes, but her curiosity got the better of her. Cautiously she took one step and almost immediately had to retreat back, as three arrows landed right in front of her foot. These arrows were blood red and seemed to be made out of chakra, and to confirm this the arrows dissipated leaving behind only an indent.
Knowing there was no way that she would be able to make it across at her current run speed. Quickly she would release the weights from around her legs, take a few hops to accustom herself to her now weightlessness, and then make a mad dash towards the pillar. This dash instantly became a gauntlet as arrow after arrow was shot at her. Some she nearly avoid, while others ripped though her clothes.
Finally making it to the pillar, with only minor cuts, Rukia would begin the climb up. For a split second the arrows stopped falling, only then to seemingly come raining from the sky itself. Now though, the arrows were being shot parallel to the pillar. Meaning that whoever or what ever was able to track Rukia, shot straight into the air and have it come down exactly where she was. Thankfully, these arrows where somewhat slower and easier to dodge. Reaching the apex Rukia would place a rope of silk attaching herself to the pillar and leap upwards and outwards, trying to gather as much info as possible.
At the height of her jump she was immediately meet with three more arrows that ripped her clothes to shreds, revealing the black bodysuit underneath. Having only moments Rukia quickly took this time to take in the site before her. A top the pillar were three ethereal like black figures with white eyes and head like that of a jackal. In the center of the pillar was a pedestal that housed an orb like object, that seemed to tether the black figures. Not having the long to ponder the orb as she would begin falling back down, but due to her silk rope she was actually able to swing to the other side; like a pendulum.
Unfortunately, this time Rukia's luck would run out as the moment she hit the top of her arc she would be meet with another three arrows that found their mark. One in her thigh, one in her side and the last one piercing her left shoulder. With the arrows disappearing and not plugging the wounds like normal arrows the bleeding was more severe, to combat this Rukia would freeze the blood, closing the wounds, as emergency first aid.
Knowing that it would be a death sentence to just continuously swing around the pillar, Rukia would go on the attack; her target being the orb, as the figures seemed more like projections than actual things. Rukia would create a thin disk of ice under her feet in a way so that she was perpendicular to the pillar and could launch herself forwards. And thus she would launch with all her might directly towards the orb, and as she does a spiraling ball of chakra formed in her right hand. Her assailants as well had fired once again. Using the rasengan she would deflect two of the arrows, for the third she use the rasengan as a fulcrum to push herself over doing a front flip.
Rukia would find that her rasengan didn't impact with the orb but a barrier of sorts that surrounded the orb like a skin. By this time the three beings had drawn their bows back and had Rukia dead to rights. Doing the only thing she could Rukia would create another rasengan in her other hand, then smashing the second rasengan into the first causing it to expand and overload the barrier. Pass the barrier the rasengan would obliterate the orb, causing a mass of black smoke to erupt from the orb. This smoke would swirl around the perimeter of the pillar and then swiftly raise up into the sky.
Hope that doesn't cause any problems.
Along with the smoke the archers also disappeared. Rukia lets out a sigh as she slumps against the now empty pedestal, and summons forth some medical supplies. With these supplies and her spider silk Rukia was able to patch up her wounds.
That would of been so much easier if I could fly.
After resting for a time Rukia makes he was down the pillar by lowering herself with spider silk. Leaving the pillar behind Rukia had more questions than answers. Like what was that black smoke? What were those things guarding the orb? Maybe one day these questions will be answered, but maybe not by Rukia herself.
The rest of the journey across the landmark was uneventful.
