In this particular recollection it was written that the greatest misconception surrounding Jinchūriki was that their strength comes from possessing the chakra of a Tailed Beast. What fascinated the scholar was the host and beast appearing to act independently while sharing the same body, describing them as engaging in close combat whilst their movements and actions seemed to contradict each other, while one would attack, the other would defend, while one would physically strike, the other would manifest itself. It seemed as if they were covering each other's blindspots, while it was believed this was the Bijū's instincts to protect its host it was later revealed through observations that these moves were all deliberate. The human was the one with the physical body, while the Bijū was the one possessing the enormous chakra that could extend beyond the limitations of the body, manifesting in various ways to strike with legs, arms, to forcefully block or pull the Jinchūriki in different directions to evade. These observations were only ever made of hosts who had formed a genuine bond with their Bijū; hosts who merely contained or forcibly controlled their beast never displayed this coordination. Over the many years following the observations, they were organized into a single recognized combat system known as “Two Souls, One Body”. The fundamental principle behind the style is Asynchronization: the deliberate separation of intentions from the host and the Bijū during coordinated actions. Description on the Abilities and Inner Workings of the Style: Nikon Ittai is a close quarters combat style built around the unique relationship and companionship between the Jinchūriki and the Bijū. While the Jinchūriki engages in Taijutsu, Kenjutsu, Bukijutsu or similar forms of combat, the Bijū fights alongside them through manifestations of its anatomy and chakra manipulation, allowing both consciousnesses to coordinate separate actions. This forms the basis of the style, which is made of four principles: Asynchronization, Manifested Anatomy, Bestial Movement, and Chakra Injection. Asynchronization: Nikon Ittai runs on the principle of the Jinchūriki and the Bijū being two independent consciousnesses that share the same body, and the mastery of the body and the mind allows them to innately separate their intentions, movements and actions, while still coordinating their decisions deliberately through constant communication between the two minds, instead of the Bijū simply being a “battery” for the host. Thus, while the Jinchūriki engages in close quarters combat through hand to hand combat and weapon attacks, the Bijū coordinates their actions by simultaneously performing its own complementary action through manifested anatomy, the expulsion of malicious Bijū chakra, the asynchronous movements of the Bijū, which are designed to overwhelm or surprise targets with a multitude of limbs, and various anatomy manifestations. Despite the fact that the Jinchūriki and Bijū act with separate consciousnesses, their coordinated actions are treated as components of the same Nikon Ittai technique, with the “technique”, consciousness, coordination and actions all occurring within a single timeframe. The Bijū’s actions never count as a separate technique or an additional action; they only exist as part of the Nikon Ittai technique being performed, and the Bijū cannot perform its own independent techniques through this style. This also allows the deliberate creation of openings, where the Jinchūriki intentionally exposes themselves to draw the opponent in while the Bijū prepares a strike from an angle the opponent cannot see. Manifested Anatomy: Bijū physically sprouts portions of its own anatomy from the Jinchūriki, spawning parts of its own body; tails, legs, arms, hoofs, claws, wings, horns, tentacles, paws etc., as extensions of the Jinchūriki’s body, not as chakra constructs or shrouds, but as actual physical limbs and appendages belonging to the Bijū, allowing the Bijū to physically sprout its own body parts from the Jinchūriki. The physical foundations of Nikon Ittai is the controlled use of partial Bijū transformation, where the Jinchūriki temporarily “spawns” portions of their Tailed Beast’s anatomy without undergoing a full-body transformation. What sets it apart from regular partial transformation is that the manifested anatomy is entirely entrusted to the Bijū’s consciousness, allowing it to control these extensions independently from the Jinchūriki. These manifestations correspond specifically to the practitioner’s Tailed Beast. This allows the Bijū to spawn “body parts” in unusual placements which gives the pair access to both attack and defensive angles previously impossible due to the human anatomy, which allows the Jinchūriki to fight from positions that would normally leave them exposed. The exact number, size, strength, duration and reach of the manifestations is determined based on the techniques that are part of the fighting style. The manifestations are restricted to anatomical features that the practitioner’s own Bijū possesses and must remain connected to or originate from the practitioner’s body. It cannot be used to reproduce the anatomy of another Tailed Beast or create separate creatures, and all physical capabilities remain subject to the limitations in each technique. The manifested appendages are genuine physical body parts and can be struck, cut or restrained; damage dealt to them is partially felt by the Jinchūriki, and the Bijū cannot maintain more appendages at once than the technique being performed allows. Bestial Movement: The manifestations and consciousness of the Bijū is not limited to defense and attack alone, but the Bijū in this style also use its limbs and appendages to strike or block opponents, or to pull, push, catch, launch, stop or redirect the Jinchūriki during close combat, creating these unique and erratic movements that make it increasingly difficult to predict them. Thus, a missed sword swing or fist, or a simple kick, could be followed by a manifested tail pulling the Jinchūriki back out of danger, or for legs, or body parts following the missed strikes for surprise assaults. Limbs could strike the ground, sending the Jinchūriki sideways or into the air. Chakra Injection: Bijū's manifested anatomy consists of actual physical body parts that naturally contain and circulate the Bijū's own chakra, which is malicious, dense and corrosive in nature. This principle can be incorporated into the techniques of Nikon Ittai, allowing the Bijū to deliberately inject quantities of its chakra into an opponent through physical contact with its manifested anatomy. The transfer does not automatically occur unless specifically stated, and its effectiveness, quantity and effects are determined by the individual techniques. Unlike a Jinchūriki’s body and chakra system which has acclimated to a Bijū's chakra, an ordinary target possesses no such natural compatibility, causing the foreign chakra to interfere with the balance and circulation of their own. Depending on the quantity that is transferred, this can cause disruption of the chakra system and increased difficulty in molding chakra and maintaining it. If the concentration of Bijū chakra is high enough it can cause severe pathway disruption and severe internal strain and damaging of chakra pathways, impairing their ability to control and mold chakra all together. Other Jinchūriki, whose bodies have already acclimated to Bijū chakra, are highly resistant to Chakra Injection. Unless a technique states otherwise, its effects last for a limited duration and can be removed through medical ninjutsu, Yang healing, or by expelling the foreign chakra with a surge of equal or greater chakra. Example Techniques: (Nikon Ittai: Kowareta Kugutsu) Two Souls, One Body: Broken Marionette
Type: Offensive / Defensive Rank: A Range: Short Chakra: 30 Damage: 60 Description: When the Jinchūriki is confronted by an incoming attack, the Jinchūriki relaxes their stance and relinquishes control of their body and positioning to their Bijū. This allows the Tailed Beast to control the Jinchūriki like a marionette, by rapidly manifesting a tail and multiple limbs around the Jinchūriki, using them to manipulate the Jinchūriki’s body in abrupt, disjointed and erratic movements. The manifested limbs can be used to strike the ground and force the Jinchūriki’s torso sideways, while a tail catches their waist and pulls them backwards, they can manifest legs to force them to jump, twirl or set into an uncontrolled sprint or sudden shift in direction, causing an incoming attack to pass through the space they previously occupied. By forcibly propelling and redirecting the Jinchūriki through its manifested limbs, the Bijū increases their movement speed by x3 during this technique alone, without affecting their base speed once the technique ends. Instead of letting the Jinchūriki enter a defensive stance, the Bijū redirects its momentum a multitude of times, using its manifested limbs to push the Jinchūriki forward at an unusual angle. The Jinchūriki exploits the erratic movements to deliver a twisting and twirling, almost corkscrew like slash or a physical two legged twirling kick, while the Bijū lashes out at the same time with its remaining manifested appendages. The entire technique looks like a puppet being violently pulled, pushed and moved by invisible strings, with both the Bijū and Jinchūriki’s movements being based on different intentions while being coordinated. Note: - The technique can be used three times per fight, with a two-turn cooldown.
(Nikon Ittai: Futatsu no Tamashii no Mai) Two Souls, One Body: Dance of the Two Souls
Type: Offensive Rank: A Range: Short Chakra: 30 Damage: 60 Description: The Jinchūriki starts by performing a sweeping sword slash while the Bijū simultaneously spawns four of its limbs together with a single tail from different areas of the Jinchūriki’s body. Two of the spawned limbs will immediately propel the Jinchūriki into a rapid sideways rotation, causing their sweeping sword slash to turn into a series of revolving slashes. The other manifested limbs move independently and are used to deliver kicks and direct strikes from various angles. At the same time, the Bijū’s tail is repeatedly used to catch, twist and release the Jinchūriki, forcing them to change direction, axis of their rotations, forcing them into a spin, tumble or to reverse their movements. As the Bijū repeatedly use its spawned limbs to propel and redirect the Jinchūriki in various directions it increases their movement speed by x3 during this technique alone. The entire move is finished by the Bijū slamming two limbs into the ground, sending the Jinchūriki into a forward rotating and descending sword slash accompanied by its remaining limbs to cover for incoming strikes or to add assaults from various angles. Note: - Usable three times per battle, with a two-turn cooldown.
(Nikon Ittai: Yajū no Hōyō) Two Souls, One Body: The Beast's Embrace
Type: Offensive Rank: S Range: Short Chakra: 40 Damage: 80 Description: The Jinchūriki launches themselves at their target throwing multiple aggressive punches, elbows, sweeping kicks in a combination of their choosing, while the Bijū manifests four additional limbs and a tail that protrude at chosen locations on the hosts body. The manifested limbs move independently and attack from multiple angles, sweeping the target's ankles, striking from above and delivering kicks from either side. The Bijū then uses two limbs to slam into the ground causing the host to vault into a twisting aerial rotation as they deliver a descending kick, while the remaining limbs and tail converge on the target or cover defensively. While the assault is happening, the Bijū injects its chakra through its manifested limbs directly into the target upon contact, which disrupts the target's chakra circulation as it corrodes their chakra pathways through its dense and malicious nature. This causes a target who has been affected by Bijū chakra to have difficulty molding chakra. This causes the opponent’s techniques to require an additional 15 chakra each, without it counting as a buff. This effect lasts for three turns, or until healed through medical ninjutsu or yang or other forms of healing. Other Jinchūriki are only affected for a single turn. Note: - Usable two times per battle, with a two-turn cooldown. - The chakra injection requires direct contact with the Bijū’s manifested anatomy.
(Nikon Ittai: Itsuwari no Suki) Two Souls, One Body: Feigned Opening
Type: Offensive / Defensive Rank: A Range: Short Chakra: 30 Damage: 60 Description: The Jinchūriki deliberately overcommits to an attack or drops their guard, leaving what appears to be a genuine opening, such as an exposed back or side, or a weapon arm left extended after a missed strike. As the Jinchūriki’s posture shows no sign of preparation, the opening appears real, while the Bijū observes the opponent from within. The moment the opponent commits to exploiting the opening, the Bijū manifests up to three appendages from the side of the body furthest from the opponent’s line of sight. Two appendages wrap around or burst from behind the Jinchūriki to block or seize the incoming attack, while the third strikes the opponent from the blind angle created by their own advance. At the same instant, the Jinchūriki turns into the opponent with a counterattack of their choosing using fists, legs or weapon, meeting the opponent with two separate attacks from two directions while they are still committed to their own. The blocking appendages can only defend against close-range physical attacks of equal or lower rank. Note: - Usable three times per battle, with a two-turn cooldown.
Additional effects and Restrictions: Requirements: The practitioner must be a Jinchūriki, and must have completed Taijutsu, as well as Kenjutsu or Bukijutsu. As Nikon Ittai is a combination of two conscious beings sharing a single body, the chakra required by techniques of this style is formed from the Bijū’s chakra flowing through the Jinchūriki’s own chakra system, and as such the cost of the techniques is still paid in full by the practitioner. The host and Bijū simultaneously observe their surroundings and communicate threats, granting the Jinchūriki an additional 5 meters to their Freeform Dodge range without functioning as a sensory ability. Through extensive training in coordinating partial Bijū manifestations, Nikon Ittai specialists reduce the chakra cost of the style's techniques by 10, without altering their strength, duration or restrictions. Restrictions: The style cannot be used if the Bijū is suppressed, sealed, externally controlled or extracted, including when its chakra is suppressed by Wood Release or chakra-suppression seals. Should the bond between the Jinchūriki and the Bijū be broken, or the Bijū refuse to cooperate, the style cannot be performed. All manifested appendages must remain connected to the Jinchūriki’s body.
