It gave us a hint the there may be a "chance" of them meeting knowing kishimoto he could just be messing with us. I think it's likely he will see itachi just as he ends the edo tensei. What the outcome of that is idk. It is interesting though that we have seen more of itachi in like 20 chapters...

Also i think it's obvious that if itachi stops the edo tensei like he says then he will in essence be killing himself for good.....Making it impossible for him to talk to sasuke again.
