New Horizons | The Noticeboard

Description:

The Noticeboard can be visualized as a Global PA system that alerts all players of the Ninja World to events as they unfold, including planned events such as NW Events, player-submitted events, or just general happenings within the world that warrant attention. Here is also where advancements in the plot of Story Arcs and updates to the NW are posted. These are generally OOC and are designed to update players from a game-level perspective of how the world and its mechanics change.

The NW Noticeboard is also where all major updates to the various narratives running alongside each other is found. Major events such as the eradication of a rival clan or the destruction of a city can be posted here as these events affect the world in a way where multiple people can know of their occurrence without having witnessed them. Essentially events that become 'general knowledge'. Players may also create personal notices that propagate throughout an area such as a group of landmarks. Such notices include: call for allies, trade offers, important changes within a Clan or Org, rivalries, declarations and outcomes of conflicts, etc. Narratively, these will come in the form of actual noticeboard placements within Marketplaces and other popular spots within the NW, word of mouth spreading throughout an area, or any other way that is immersive, i.e., interactable through RP. If the notice references specific events or locations then relevant links must be provided where applicable for context. Ongoing treaties, rivalries, and other notes of diplomacy will also be listed here.

Rules for Submissions:

Player-submitted notices are required to be immersive but if OOC context is also required then it may be included. Notices should be descriptive and contextual and must be a concurrent development, i.e. no vague posts and no flashbacks or 'future plans'. Any notice found to be in violation of these rules can be annulled without warning.

Active Treaties/Rivalries:

What better way to commemorate this thread than with appreciation for those who participated in the unpopular Arc X. Ya'll are the real ones. The following players, @Kooljay @Joon @Skorm and @Troi , have been awarded with New Horizon's first Official Title, Blessed. Details below and in the Official Titles section.

Blessed (S-rank)
Description: Awarded to those who participated in the events of Arc X. Lasts indefinitely.
Effect: The wielder is uncannily lucky in the most opportune situations. Gain the ability to reroll any roll-based interaction once per day (24 hrs). Also gain a 15% chance to survive lethal damage with at least 30 HP once per Arc.
Also, the story and general activity of Arc 1 have officially begun! All submission threads are now open, except for Player-Submitted Events which will come later. More information on both storylines can be found in the Lore Copendum:

Sins of the Father:
A darkness has overtaken the rural village that called Yasato (026) home. Locals in the neighboring Haesu (027) report of a strange song that comes from the woods of the landmark at nights, but no one has dared to go investigate. They also speak of strange, red-eyed ravens that have now begun flying about the region. Currently, players cannot find this village or the source of the song through traditional means. They would need to follow the ravens, if they ever saw one, back to its nest...

A Heartfelt Plea:
A young woman named Elenda has been experiencing episodic fainting and hellish visions as of late. This is unlike anything ever seen before and though they do not know this, Clan Nakamura is optimistic that their wealth and influence can fix their problem. A notice (Mission Storyboard Element) has gone up on all the major hubs and Marketplaces asking for help. Players are asked to come to the
City of Chungsu (001), to High District (mind the guards, they don't too like outsiders) and ask to see either Kaito Nakamura or Tamiyo Nakamura. The notice:

Doctor!
Rank:
B
Description: The Lady Elenda has fallen ill with some mysterious affliction. We, Clan Nakamura of Chungsu seek anyone who is able and willing to help. Medical Ninjutsu is a must, as well as any who could mend a broken mind.

P.S. Still editing and making fine changes in the background.

The Sins of the Father story arc has been updated to feature a few landmark changes and the introduction of the Animal Sages. These are:
  • Bat Sage Aclazotz from The Shadow Tower (236)
  • Snake Sage Manda from Ryuchi Cave, Crimson State Island (190)
  • Monkey Sage Enma from Ōkuninushi’s Peak (169)
  • Toad Sage Gamamaru from Mount Myōboku (202).
These will serve as NPC's related to the story and the Ninja World on a whole. Those who wish to sign the Sage's respective contracts may approach them, while those who seek greater power like that of Sage Mode, may take on a series of challenges to determine if they are worthy... To initiate conversation with the Sages simply go to their respective landmarks and @ me (Zaphkiel) or the NRP Botman.

In addition to this the Marketplace has been stocked with its first shipment of Artifacts! The rules and information about how Artifacts work now can be found in the Rulebook, but I will still post their section below as well as the current Artifacts for purchase. Currently, the pool of items is too low for loot drops. However, this will change when the inventory reaches a sufficient amount so as to ensure true randomness. I'll be adding more to these lists in addition to unique drops from Story Arcs, Rifts, and Sagas. If you have any ideas for interesting Artifacts you would like to see in the NW you may message me or Detective L on here with the subject, "NW Suggestion" or on Discord.

Artifacts Description:

Artifacts are unique items that can be acquired by chance through loot drops, bought at the various Marketplaces in the Ninja World, traded between players, or even stolen. Artifacts often represent unique, named objects while the occasional 'generic good' may still be acquired. Each Artifact has a specified type which helps to categorize the object and also improve variety. The types are: Consumable, Weapon, Accessory, and Armor. Consumables are exhaustible, i.e. spent with every use and require refilling if applicable. This can include foods, medicines, single-use tools, etc., and are removed from a player's inventory when all 'slots' are used. Weapons are self-explanatory, as are Armors. Accessories, however, is by far the most varied type and can range anywhere from a pair of glasses to bangles or even a book. The main function that defines an Accessory is that they are kept on the character's body in order to benefit them with effects that usually augment the wielder rather than being used to attack or defend outright, unlike Weapons. Of course there will always be exceptions. For the sake of loot, player interaction, and exclusivity, the ranks of items are tied to their rarity status, where S and Forbidden ranked are Legendary, A-ranks are Rare, B-ranks are Uncommon and C to D-ranks are Common.

The nature or origin of some Artifacts and Items will also be tied to regions of the NW both in drop chances and Marketplace availability. For example, a pirate sword is much more likely to drop from a Mission around the Kanashi Ocean or show up in the Degarashan Floating Marketplace than in the Bone Fields of the Great Wind Desert. With this in mind, each Marketplace then serves as a hub of similar or themed items from a region.

Note: Unless noted, Artifacts and Items can be destroyed from damage and are valid targets during confrontations. S-ranked Artifacts & Items have 80 HP, A-ranked 60 HP, B-ranked 40 HP, etc..

Rules for Artificers:

Each player may have an unlimited inventory of Artifacts acquired throughout their Ninja World career, however, they may only have five unique Artifacts active per Arc. For consumables that may be multiple items, the entire stock is counted as one item, leaving four more slots to work with. Non-consumable Weapon and Armor Artifacts replace a Player's Custom Weapons (and Armors) for as long as they remain active and they consume one of the five active slots. An example would be: Kunai (x2), Scroll (x1), Anbu Mask, Fancy Sword, Smoke Bomb (x2). A Player may update their active list of Artifacts during an Arc, but some such as Legendary Artifacts will require a Bio update which would only come during the grace period between Arcs. This will be noted on the item.

The lightning released from the scroll is unnaturally faster than usual, moving at twice (x2) the speed of another Lightning technique of the same rank. This can only be applied to techniques A-ranked and below.
Note(s): Non-tradeable.

Keishi City Marketplace:

Vanishing Smoke Bomb (x1)

When used to relocate during a fight, the smoke simply masks the user as they move within it.

Mayhem Devil's Scroll (x1)

If the jutsu requires hand seals then the user will spend the appropriate amount of time making symbols, i.e. more hand seals equal longer drawing time, with no hand seals being an instant activation by resting a finger on the unrolled scroll. The fires released from the scroll carry a dark red coloration and images of tiny, impish creatures within it that would visualize the fire's consumption by the creatures themselves gnawing and clawing at anything they (the fire) touches. Also leaves a behind a pungent sulfur-like smell in the air.

Price: 4,500 Kumi
Rank: A
Type: Armor, Accessory
Range: Short
Chakra: N/A (-15 per turn)
Damage: N/A (-20 to Fire and Heat-based Jutsu)
Description: A tattered cloth worn by an ancient clan of the Great Wind Desert, the Artifact known as the 'Dune Shroud' draws chakra from the wielder (-15 per turn) in order to shield them from extreme heat, effectively reducing the damage of fire and heat-based attacks by -20 damage whenever they reach within 5m of the wearer. This ability is passive and can only affect one opposing technique at a time. Additionally, the wielder is harder to track when amongst sand due to the fabric's coloration, translating to -2 to an opponent's base tracking value. Both of these effects do not count toward the buff/de-buff limit.

To use, the wielder unrolls the scroll and uses a paint brush or their finger to mark the kanji for the technique being performed. If the jutsu requires hand seals then the user will spend the appropriate amount of time making symbols, i.e. more hand seals equal longer drawing time, with no hand seals being an instant activation by resting a finger on the unrolled scroll.
