Ninja World | Landmark Changes & Updates
Landmark Claims & Conquest

Description:

With every landmark containing some measure of lore, they are designed to be building blocks of player-created narratives. One of the more impactful ways to achieve this by influencing the Ninja World through its landmarks. Most landmarks can be fundamentally changed by player actions and this is not only facilitated through this thread but also encouraged.

This thread will be used by both Moderators and players alike to track important changes made to the world. For players, anything from creating new structures to changing the geography of the land counts as an update and warrants submission in this thread. Like previously, there are two types of changes that can be made to LM's. The first are simple changes: reversible/mendable alterations like structures built, forests cleared, and villages raided. These are ultimately temporary and allow the landmark to return to its previous (base) state after an Arc or two if not maintained. The other type are major or world changes. These fundamentally alter the topology and lore of a landmark in ways that cannot easily be undone or mitigated. These include destroying mountains, evaporating lakes and rivers, or even creating new features that change the ecology of the area. Both require submission in this thread, but simple changes are more likely to be approved while world changes require planning and foresight on the NW Sensei side before implementation.

Submission Template:

PHP:
Relevant Links:
Type: (Simple Change/World Change)
The original paragraph: (the original text of the paragraph in question. If the submission is a new paragraph or note this should be left empty)
The new paragraph: (the new text of the paragraph, with all changes bolded if relevant)

Tip:

Every change, whether a simple or a world change, must of course be described and implemented thoroughly in an RP fashion in the landmark(s) in question. To continue the above mentioned example; to realize their change the player might describe how they interact with some NPCs in the landmark and persuade them to move in, or maybe they force them to do so. The most important thing is that all changes are accompanied by RP that leads to these changes.

The original paragraph: While it was quite literally an uphill struggle, the forces of Millicent were able to assault the Katsuryoku's home, forcing them to abandon the mountain, or fall to the Rot. The mountain's once glorious facade is now stained with a deep crimson, running down the side in a sight reminiscent of a volcano, though one that spews forth ichor and vile abomination-spawning mud.

The new paragraph: Mount Katsuryoku, previously having been overrun by a mysterious organic substance, has been retaken and restored. It is now encircled by a ring of molten bismuth, which serves as a glowing moat around the mountain. There is only one earthen bridge crossing the molten metal. Beyond that, there is an internal corridor, carved out within the mountain, which is dark and spirals up to the peak. Along its sides, veins of bismuth, set in the stone, shine with colors of the spectrum, giving off an otherworldly glow. The peak itself is hidden behind massive natural stone, invisible from the outside. Atop the mountain, the rebuilt Katsuryoku mansion, a fortified monastery, open only to the sky, made stronger with earth and connected to the metallic veins within the mountain. The inhabitants of the Pure World (Genki), layered on top of the mountain and through its corridor. Should any non-Katsuryoku attempt to enter, they will feel incredibly drowsy and/or perturbed as the spirits pass through them (this carries no inherent damage or restrictive effects). Those approaching the peak from the top will be swarmed by the defenders, and will experience the same effects as described.

The mountain only recognizes its own.

Approved. Edited reference to Scarlet Rot as that is yet to be introduced/explained in the new NW. Added further edits. - Zaphkiel

The original paragraph: Euboea is the central area of O’uzu Island, dominated by the long, gentle hill range that runs across the length of the island. The area is partially abandoned due to an irreversible souring of the soil here, forcing the area’s many farmers to move away. A few villages survive on other industries, but many empty, decaying farmhouses can be found here. The souring has also hampered the development of Euboea’s flora.

The new paragraph: After the arrival of 9 the Phantom on her crusade to claim territory for the Hellsing Organization, what was once a decaying and barely surviving land was completely vanquished by 9's hands and made anew from the ground up. It is now a beautiful kingdom of pure golden Rukh, visible to the public eye and filled with rukh butterflies constantly flying from the kingdom and into the sky before vanishing. The Castle of the Phantom sits in the middle of the kingdom with a flag that reads "Hellsing Organization" atop of it. The kingdom is surrounded by a moat of pure black Stygian Water. This land invites most to enjoy and bask in the glory of 9's works and its sanctified ground... Being built by 9's Rukh, the landmark is at her mercy. The kingdom can appear to those she chooses, and not appear to those she chooses. Shall it "not" appear to someone, it will slowly start to fade and appear as an endless desolate desert before them. The ones not chosen are also susceptible to being reverse summoned back to the nearest landmark from which they came. This is an indirect reflection and use of the technique Danjon Djinn ✽ Dungeon Of Djinns, working in a similar fashion.

Declined, based on what we spoke about. - Zaphkiel

The original paragraph: Naxos is the northernmost area of O’uzu Island. It is the flattest area of the island, due to the gradual slump the long hill range running across it undergoes here. The result is a more homogenous landscape of light woods dotting a gentle, hilly horizon of grassland. It is heavily populated with prosperous villages littering its coast.

Now controlled by The Hellsing Organization.

Declined. Not enough to warrant a change to the existing description.
