The only time where I think main character beat the stronger oppenent in IC mode(in character) is P1 Naruto vs Kabuto because he was being the usual Kabuto and he would not expect Naruto to make such a move. I can say Lee lost to Gaara pretty fair but Gaara is more of a main character then Lee.
