I agree with Mejkl3. there has to be some casulties from both sides, other wise it's just not a war and it would have more of an impact for the readers if it was someone they knew rather then just a random.

I'm curious about what's happened to him. with the way the manga going it appears to me that everyone's sort of forgotten about him. (Although I don't blame them I forgot too until I re-read a couple of chapters ^^) we haven't seen Captain Yamato since chapter 515 (the beginning of the war)...
