Deidara's clay clone feint deals with any single attack that Sasori might land and the iron sand will deconstruct upon being hit. Deidara just has an innate advantage.

He doesn't need C4, just carpet bomb the puppets. Sasori doesn't do too well against those who can pull feints and fight long-distance.
