Why didn't Kakashi take care of Naruto when he knew he was Minato's son?

Well we know that Kakashi was one of the rare person who knew about Naruto's birth, but why didn't he take care of Naruto after his sensei's death? Naruto was all the time oppressed by other villagers, and not even once, Kakashi tried to console him or do something about it? Even when Sandaime Hokage finally decided to take care of Naruto, he was always neglecting him and only paying attention on Sasuke. Only until part2 started, without Sasuke, did he really take an interest in Naruto.

I think it's either a fail on Kishi's side or a fail on Kakashi's side

And plus, Naruto didn't need Kakashi that often. He had Jiraya! Who Taught Naruto more than Kakashi did..

He said soon, which means he didn't know what date. Kakashi didn't teach Naruto because he knew that Jiraya would be a hella better teacher to Naruto then him, plus Kakashi was the only person in the village that could actually be of help to Sasuke since they both have the sharingan sooo. Plus, didn't Jiraya tell Kakashi to leave Naruto in his care?

Hm I'm sure Kakashi knew who Kushina was. And he did say Naruto looked a lot like Minato. Just deal with it, Kishimoto made some mistakes

A few things can contribute to this. For one, people in the village knew that Naruto was a Jin and were forbidden to talk about it. Naruto's parents' identities were kept secret from the village. If Kakashi started to take care of the outcast Jin, then people would have started asking questions as to why.

It's not as if Minato was hiding his name or just gave him that name at his birth moment, right? They already knew the name they would give him even before his birth(they talked about it to Jiraya after reading his book). Like Kakashi says on this pic, it's originally a secret mission, but Minato still smh told him about it, which means that he was one of the people Minato trusted enough to tell him something as important as this. The manga contradict itself since you said yourself that only Sandaime, her wife knew about it, but on this pic, we now know that Kakashi also knew about it. I don't see why he wouldn't know his name when Minato already gave him this important secret and had nothing to hide

What I believe is that Sandaime distanced Kakashi from Naruto to avoid necessary attention. Kakashi was stationed in the Anbu black OPs which is directly under the Hokage's command. Naruto as a Jinchuriki and as Minato's Legacy was Sandaime's Responsibility.

Kakashi failed each and every Genin team because he obviously thought that HE wasn't ready for such a responsibility but when it came to Naruto he and the 3rd both knew that Kakashi will take care of Naruto like no other and that's when Sandaime gave Naruto to Kakashi.

As a writer myself, I can vouch for Kishimoto. It's not always easy to make things match up to the past. This is an example. Plot holes can be a problem if one isn't cautious.
