Kishi had showed Hinatas back as a forshadowing. I even called it as well Hinata would jump in and I feel as a branch is supposed to protect the main, Neji would save Hinata. I think it was just to spark the relation with Naruto and Hinata and to give Naruto that motivation to turn ssj3....ok well not that but do something.

so it will prompt either lee or gai to go 8 gates , we will see it , they will die , naruto goes rage , still loses to juubi , naruto sees sage who either gives him his chakra or temporarily his whole arsenal of jutsu (soul inside kurama),he then believes they can win cos of his new temporary power and the fact his mum and dad where also there?
