Edit: just went back and took the test again in order to see how credible the test actually is, missed a lot of words intentionally and the result was 40,200 words.

so that test is nothing more than a joke, and that is not just judging by what I said above..

also, I'm in no way saying that the results anyone got here were false, and I'm absolutely not doubting the knowledge of anyone here, I'm just saying that I don't think it is to be trusted.

They’re the experts not you so there must be some relation & that’s definitely not for having fun! Just look at the site! It’s a serious one & they have some statistics & reliable information there! Go check it more carefully before you say your ideas about it!

So now if I take the test again and answer honestly it comes out to 45,000 words. Not only do I know more than 45,000 words, but they're guessing based on a handful of difficult ones...fail. xd

:rofl: I don't think you understand. There's something like 171,000 words in the English language that Oxford has recorded, I think 40,000 of those are obsolete or don't really count. This test stops at 45,000...that by itself is a fail. They're assuming that one person can't know more than 45,000 words when I'm quite sure that there are probably lots of people who know most of the words in the English language because they've been studying all their lives.

Most of the words in the test are difficult, there are only a few at the beginning that are officially easy. Whoever put this test together thinks that a good vocabulary is based on how many strange and unusual words one knows. That is not true in any way, just because someone doesn't know a bunch of difficult words doesn't mean that they don't know 45,000 words. Also, for a writer such as myself, it is not the size of the vocabulary itself that counts, but how you use it.
