To stop madara's Wood style attack, naruto used up the kyuubi energy in an instant to use multiple giant rasengans. I think the kage are doing very well. (Okey naruto has bijuu power, but the kages do it without don't forget about that. )

It takes an advanced MS Sharingan or Rennegan user to discern Madara from the clones. Given the speed of the battle, someone who can't do that (everyone except for Nagato, and maybe Sasuke or Itachi) needs a semi-ubiquitous attack or is useless. That leaves Naruto, Konan, and the tyrant guy. Basically there are only 6 characters that can even fight Madara seriously.
