A rare neurological condition

I have found online something I have been searching for for years. ever since I can remember I haven't been able to watch others in pain, see some type of torture, or anything else that harms the human body because if I see it, for some reason I literally feel it. If you get stabbed in the leg, I out of no where feel like im being stabbed in that same spot. I see a movie like saw....and that is just torture. For years I thought I was just weird. Come to find out its a rare neurological condition called Mirror-touch synaesthesia. Where our pain receptors in out brain activate at the visual presence of pain. Does anyone else have this? no really expecting anyone to say yes seeing how they say it is rare but I would like to know.

Is it only pain you feel? What if someone gets tickled infront of you?

the worse part is they have no idea how to stop it. so i gotta live with it forever! my friends be think im too scared to watch movies like saw, im like dude.....wtf do you think when i say im in pain! lol

there are different types of this. For me, I only feel pain of others. Meaning only the pain i see. If someone is being tickled i wont have any effect. Just things that look like that freakin hurt are the ones that effect me the most. Some people say that they can feel other emotions very easily. Maybe I do too, I have always said i have a bullshit meter that goes off sometimes when people speak lol

Wow, that's really scary.....I'd hate to have that, constantly feeling pains of others......hey at least you can tell someone you know how they feel right? Does it also only contribute to pain, or does it happen with other emotional responses, like someone crying in front of you?

yeah for some people they are a bit more emotional, like i hate to see others cry for some reason...guess now I know why. BUt its multiple things. some people have it where if they see someone else getting touched anywhere on the body, they feel that too. Or they feel emotions strongly, and in my case feel pain strongly.

How are you managing to watch/read Naruto ( or any other violent mangas ) ? is the pain you feel from others limited to just actual people ?

I think im making it sound worse then it is. Yes i feel pain of others. But there is a limit. If i see someone get shot in the head, for some reason, that wont bother me. If i see a cartoon, that doesn bother me. But stuff that mutilates that body, broken bones, being caught on fire(and yes that shit hurts like hell) sawing your leg off, things like that. Basically any and evverything you would see in the movie saw would effect me. But not minor stuff, and not cartoons. has to look real and very extreme. Oh and God forbid I see a man get hit in the nuts..........oh..my...god.......

If you, for some unknown reason, decide to imagine another human body being mutilated, would you still feel the pain ? I think you won't since it's imagined.

wow thats really unfortunate, i wish there was a cure for you man, i guess feeling others pain makes you more sympathetic and empathetic.

most likely its psychological, your fear is too deep, so ur body makes it real, all humans are like that, its just a trigger of thought and emotions, try to remove ur fear or think of something else while u watch, and hopefully it will be better.
