izanami may be as OP described, but from observation it would be used as an interogation technique.

the genjutstu started on pg13 of chapter 580

i had a feeling he did a genjutsu when there was a close up on itachis eye.

long story short, the loop starts and finishes when kabuto stabs ITACHI

on page 17 of 581 you see itachi telling sasuke to stay close

but telling him to get away here

i think it is because, when he said "stay close" he was 'recording' what was going to be in his loop, but telling him to "get away" because he had finished 'recording' and the loop can ONLY restart when ITACHI is 'killed', making sasuke a liability in this genjutsu

This loop only lasts as long as itachis sharingan doesnt fade. Itachi can't waste any time.

I somewhat agree with the theory, but would like to add something.
Izanami itself isn't an infinite loop.
According to me, it works for only one loop, & instead of losing the eye as in izanagi, the user loses his life.
However, as itachi said: "the weakness of edo tensei is me", I think that itachi himself being an edo, always gets revived after using izanami, & he does izanami again....thereby it becomes an infinite loop.
So it isn't a jutsu programmed like this: do (izanami) while (destiny = stop edo tensei) ( you can never really 'program' a jutsu)
its more of itachi will keep on doing izanami till kabuto stops the edo tensei.

The only question I have is how will Kabuto know to stop the Edo? Something like that should seem like the furthest thing from his mind in the middle of a fight. Unless he trys to end it temporarily to try and kill Itachi and end the genjutsu. But I think it would take a really long time to for Kabuto to make such a rash decision like that, so I hope Itachi can do something to speed up this process
