I like how all the Pain supporters are ignoring all the downsides of Pain's techniques and ignoring all the advantages of Kabuto's.

Let's run through every technique in detail and list their advantages and disadvantages, yeah every one, or every relevant one.

Starting with Deva Path. Pain stands a chance sure, it's doubtful he will win given the conditions, and those who think Pain win haven't really analyzed the facts. What good are these techniques if your opponent has answers to them or you don't have answers to opponent techniques and vice versa? Regardless I'll try to be unbiased and look through each jutsu and give both contenders ways to counter techniques.

Chibaku Tensei--
This is a last resort technique. Forms a sphere and sucks everything into it and crushes it into an even bigger sphere. How Kabuto will counter it? He can use his water body, I don't know why someone dismissed this as an option. The jutsu's upsides is its power obviously, hardly anyone can survive. Its downside is simple, it costs an incredible amount of chakra, so much that Deva Path's chakra being transmitted through Nagato he has to get closer to him in order for it to be activated. Similar with a large scale Shinra Tensei, he definitely more than likely has to deactivate his other paths so he can focus on putting all of his chakra into Deva or else his CT will probably be extremely weak.

Along with turning into a water body and simply waiting in order to avoid it, Kabuto should be able to use Orochimaru's Leech All Creation tech and merge with the ground to simply not get hit altogether, he'll come out and while Deva wasted all of his chakra on CT just kill him off. I think it's also forgotten that the user isn't immune, they're simply not pulled in, Kabuto could easily grab Pain bodies and while being pulled bring them/it/ with him so they either call of the jutsu or are crushed. Muki Tensei should deal with CT nicely.

Shinra Tensei--
Pushes things, duh. Not too powerful on its own but its power can be controlled. Its upside is also its power to push and repel incoming jutsu and enough to shatter boss summon bones. Deva can increase it to mass scale enough to destroy villages, however its downside. To make a big one Nagato has to turn off his paths to give Deva their chakra to make it more powerful. Even it takes enough out so that he can't even use his powers, this is when he actually had chakra to spare. He wastes a huge amount of chakra doing it for that reason, obviously, since Kabuto has an answer, if he did resort to mass Shinra Tensei like this, Kabuto can counter. All above options to counter work perfectly for this.

Bansho Tennin--
Same as Shinra Tensei, opposite, pulls things in. Common combinations, Bansho Tenin then proceed to stab with a Chakra Rod, or use Human Path's Soul Suck. Well no matter what happens, Kakashi threw a ball and chain and stopped its pull. Kabuto has snakes perfect for this, and if he's sucked in he simply activates Muki Tensei, Hakugeki, or any of the Sound jutsu and they're going to run right into a jutsu.

Preta Path
Absorption--
Absorbs ninjutsu, It can be useful and the subject of Kabuto's sage chakra might play a factor. Regardless, he should be able to get around his absorption for obvious reasons, and Preta unfortunately doesn't have the ability to protect all of the paths from ninjutsu, just a bubble around him or in front or whatnot. Its upside, obviously to absorb jutsu, the downside is it doesn't work for much else and it's not hard to get around if you know the trick to Preta.

Since Kabuto learned about practically everyone in the war, and, after getting every one of his movements rearranged with another he thought of on the spot how to move his body again, I'm not doubting his intel to discover Pain's secret mid battle, if they don't end up underestimating and dying to an "initial blitz"

Asura Path
Laser blasts
Missiles--
They're useful, sure. His lasers and whatnot, not to mention Asura is known for being extremely durable. A Raikiri blew him to pieces, and he was crushed by Chouza/Chouji and could still fire missiles. Kabuto is fairly immune to physical damage because of his water body and Uzumaki body, and can regenerate from attacks like this, Asura can be made short work of most likely via any of the aforementioned techniques.

Animal Path
Summons--
So Animal realm has all the summons, obviously a great asset. Going through the most useful ones, the Cerberus which can only be killed when Animal Realm is dead. The bird which can take flight obviously, chameleon which can hide the user, the Panda which is a huge stone panda that's basically a shield/wall. Fodder Summons like the Ram, the Crustacean(since Kabuto has Suika no jutsu this is retarded move on Pain's part) should be handled fairly easy.

Anyway, the answer to Cerberus: Kill Animal Realm. Admittedly this is clearly not a 1v1 fight by any means and I am not trying to make it sound like a 1v1, with 5 other Pain on the field he won't be an easy target. However, as we know Hakugeki is one of the most useful techniques for multiple opponents and Muki Tensei does this as well, as do all of Kabuto's wide array however we're going one by one, I'll analyze Kabuto's as well. I don't mean for this to be a one-sided discussion and I'm going to give Pain counters as well, he has a lot of techniques that could be relevant so I have to get to Kabuto as of yet

Naraka path
Reviving--
Guy revives paths, simple. Without knowledge this could be really useful and if Kabuto doesn't make quick work of them then he can easily revive the more powerful paths. Upsides? REVIVES PATHS, no shit. Downside is that, they still have chakra and if they're low it probably won't help, and, Naraka himself is a fairly useless path so he has to be guarded/be in the back formation. Naruto noticed this, and when I go over Naruto's battle with Pain and why Kabuto stands more of a chance, I'll say why Kabuto should easily deduce to make quick work of Naraka if he hasn't already.

Human path
Soul Suck--
I'm fairly sure this is the last Pain if I'm not forgetting something, he could potentially be the most fatal. Basically, if he touches you you're dead. His problem? He has to touch you. Kabuto's counter here is also simple, don't get touched. His water body prevents Human's technique from working, and even if he did, Kabuto's enhanced speed and reactions thanks to SM prevent any damage on him from him(and any of the paths for that matter) and easily give him the upper hand in taijutsu.

So now Kabuto. He has such a wide array of technique, I'll stick to the relevant ones, AKA, the sound 5 techniques, Muki Tensei, Suika no Jutsu, Hakugeki, and more if there are any.

Suika no Jutsu--
Kabuto copied the Hozuki line ability, he can completely 100% turn his body into liquid to avoid techniques, hence why Shinra, Chibaku Tensei are useless and why Asura path's are useless, Human path, etc. He won't stay like this forever however this tech can be activated on a whim as seen multiple times by Kabuto, Suigetsu, Mangetsu. Its upside is obvious, turn to water, avoid physical damage and the like. The one downside I can see is that perhaps Preta will be of use here. Kabuto can get around this by just un-liquifying to fight back of course.

People say that "He will never be able to do anything even if he was water he will just be crushed harder", this is such a horrible misconception. It takes up so much chakra for Deva Realm to be able to create CT, and even if he did open up with it(which is retarded, he uses it as a last resort due to its chakra use), I can tell you which technique takes more chakra and who can outlast who right now.

Muki Tensei--
Use Sage Energy to manipulate the area, so much that a cave turned into a bouncy house and neither Sasuke nor Itachi could react(well, Itachi covered Sasuke in Susano'o at the last second)) to avoid the spikes that were created due to it being natural energy and..technically un-predictable given that. Probably most useful and versatile technique. Those are its upsides, he could simply randomly without any of the Pain's knowledge impale them all with spikes. As much as I am trying to think of a downside, we do for one know that its weakness is heat. So Asura's lasers could be of use as well. The problem is it isn't one time only jutsu, Kabuto can simply keep using it if need be. This can be used to stop plenty of the opposition's techniques

Hakugeki-
Simple, released a deafening sound and blinding light on the opponent. This is extremely useful against the other path's, and since it's a Sage Art and nothing physical I find it hard to believe Preta could absorb this..if he can, Kabuto can use any other technique physical wise to take care of Preta, this is one of the best things about this technique. While the opponent is blinded and deafened(quite the useful thing against the Pain paths, basically Jiraiya's plan to blind the paths as well) Kabuto's free to move and act as he pleases.

Tayuya--
Tayuya's genjutsu. This also, is incredibly useful for the paths. Since it's by sound just like Frog Song it can hit all of the paths simultaneously, if only for a second immobilize them all for a hit. Good things is it takes very little prep time and can be used on the fly and its downside is it's not the strongest genjutsu. Pain's counter? He can use Deva path to use a shinra tensei to his his other path's to break them out or something similar. That's quite a double-edged sword depending on how he breaks this however, no matter what this technique will leave him open for an attack, very similar to Hakugeki in that aspect and the two used in conjunction is something to fear.

Kimimaro--
Can utilize bones obviously, they sprout from the ground and impale the targets. This can be used usefully however Muki Tensei can also be used to the same effect, this jutsu probably won't be used too much. Kimimaro's bones however are supposedly 'denser than steel', Pain should be able to use Shinra Tensei or any technique to stop them assuming they know they're coming and are ready for them.

Kidomaru--
Shoots webs, webs that 'swords can't break' and the like. Deva and Preta(assuming he can absorb them) have counters to this, the others I'm not quite sure. Asura can blast them though. This can be used to immobilize their moves as well, Kabuto has an array of jutsu but his most notable are the immobilizing techniques, again when used in conjunction with the others he can easily make short work of any paths.

Anyway, I'll just sum things up. Kabuto is by no means stomped. He has a huge array of jutsu and all jutsu to counter Pain's effectively. Pain also has quite his own selection of jutsu, unfortunately as unbiased as I am I have trouble thinking of ways for Pain to effectively counter his techniques on the other side, hence why I'm on Kabuto's side at this point.

As for knowledge and Naruto's battle which is a huge factor. Kabuto is to be honest far more intelligent than even Jiraiya who was able to recall specific words on specific pages of one of his many books to write out a sentence. Naruto, who is generally referred to as an idiot, and Jiraiya, deduced Pain's secrets. Naruto upon going into battle with Pain didn't have too much knowledge, everything was revealed in battle.

A common misconception is: Naruto "just barely" beat Pain or "lost because Pain was only fighting to capture" etc. This, however, is complete and utter bullshit. If anyone's still reading my post to this point then go read the Pain fight again. Every single path was one-shot and effortlessly destroyed by Naruto. Asura path? He tried to blitz Tsunade but Naruto appeared on him in a flash and destroyed him via rasengan. Human path? Shredded with Rasenshuriken. Preta Path? One shot with a simple SM Punch and again shattered to pieces after being revived by Naraka and absorbing Naruto's SM chakra. Deva? Rasengan, although Deva is the strongest path in ability wise(not jutsu, literal like battle combat, taijutsu and whatnot). Animal realm was punched up inside Gamabunta's mouth and one-shot. Naraka took a rasengan to the back.

Naruto effectively countered every single one of Pain's techniques. Also keep this in mind. He deduced that Naraka being in the back was the weakest paths, and he must have revived the other paths plus he was in the back formation. He formulated plans like hengeing his clones into rocks to fool Nagato, and hengeing into an FRS, and creating smoke bombs by hitting Rasengan into the ground.

Point is, this is NARUTO doing all of this, if we put Kabuto, someone much smarter (and, in this situation to be honest, much wider array and jutsu more effective to counter Pain's techniques) in his position he will easily deduce the secret behind the 6 pain bodies. Most of them as far as I see it have very little way to respond to a lot of his techniques such as Hakugeki, the genjutsu and the webbing all in conjunction when Kabuto can pick them off at that.

Naruto only lost because he had no counter to Bansho Tenin. That's the one thing that Naruto couldn't respond to and if it weren't for that he never would have been "captured", Kabuto has plenty of answers to techniques like that, his jutsu in this position are better worked for dealing with Pain than even Naruto who effortlessly killed and deduced the secrets behind every path.

Jiraiya deduced every path as well with ease, he only died because he turned his back and thought Pain was dead, there was no other opponent strong enough to that point. If Pain had not sneaked up on him and he fought all 6 head on(with or without knowledge) the fight would still regardless be much easier and he was rearing to go after he beat the other 3 paths. Note he practically one-shot Human Realm with a kick in HIS Sage Mode, one-shot Animal Realm with a kick, genjutsu immobilized them all though.

So with that all said, Kabuto can use all of these techniques and find all about Pain by simply doing what he's been doing while fighting Itachi and Sasuke. His intelligence is far far far from lacking. He has enhanced senses, speed, reaction, strength due to SM, etc etc. If you people have any honest to goodness answers to Kabuto's techniques then please do tell. I think Kabuto can deduce about the Pain bodies being oodles smarter than Jiraiya and Naruto, and take them out with his array of effective techniques. Maybe it's just me, Pain obviously holds the popular opinion.

Pain has a lot of speed, taijutsu capabilities and all that, and it is 6 on 1 I haven't forgotten. However these jutsu of Kabuto's are perfect for multiple opponents and he's shown he's perfectl capable and one of the best people for the job of dealing with multiple opponents. As with his enhanced stats with SM, and that he dodged a Susano'o arrow, coupled with Uzumaki regeneration, and the rest of his hax techniques he's simply better.

Pain wins mid diff.

Deva Path is not restricted for most of the fight so he'll be even stronger than when he fought Naruto. Pain literally never lost a fight.

Another common misconception, "if Deva had his powers Naruto would have lost earlier", "would have gotten stomped". I find it to actually be the opposite of that, that's one entire extra path that Nagato doesn't have to split his chakra in between. Giving him 1/6th of his chakra for the one technqiue Naruto didn't have an answer to probably isn't a fair tradeoff when Naruto still one-shot every other path, and now he and plenty other chars including Kabuto have an answer to Bansho Tenin.

My counter to the summons was never manda. It was poisoning with his own snake hand jutsu which will be strong enough to lift the summons thanks to sage chakra.

If Kabuto is in liquid form he cannot be grasped. Any attempt to do so will slip from Pain's hands and Pain will be unable to take the soul of something he cannot grasp.
As soon as Kabuto feels the effect of gravity he can go into a liquid. Calmly evading Sasuke's arrow is no small task.

Trying to absorb the chakra out of liquid Kabuto fails because he'd still have his Sage chakra. Remember he started this fight in sage mode. Just because he changed what form he is in it doesn't change the fact that he is using senjutsu chakra.
He could blitz Human Path the same way he blitzed Itachi.Or you know he could move away. Iirc Suigetsu can move in liquid form.
And I've already stated why CT is ineffective.
deva path can still pull him in water form. Why wouldnt he be able to? He can pull rocks an everything else.

Absorbing the sage chakra may have the same effect of that path as it did with naruto but he can be brought back

I must of mixed u up with someone esle. But the summons are already dead so i dout poision will effect them.

An i still dont think that water thing will work against human path. Even if he's water he's still a living being with a soul. Simple putting his hand in the water should work(not a fact)

An blitzing human path may not work cause if you read his bio he's said to be very fast.

What he said... xd Kabuto wins this

None of that made any sense. Your saying that if the Deva Path did have his powers from the start then the fight would have taken longer and Pain would have gotten stomped?

No way, if Deva Path had been active the whole time then Naruto would have never broken up Pain's defensive formation. Attacks that were blocked by the Preta Path would have been blocked by the Deva Path.

Frog summons would have gotten taken out much quicker. And his clones would never have made it into Pain's formation. And most likely the Path that revives people would not have been killed.

He broke it up because he fooled Pain and had better strategies, whether he had his powers or not he isn't Sakon/Ukon to merge with Preta to defend against things he can't he's still a person.

My post wasn't 100% directed at your or in rebuttal to you either, but regardless, I didn't mean exactly what you thought I meant. Naruto only "lost" because he had no answer to Bansho Tenin, this was literally the only reason Deva Path would have made a difference, the only way the past Naruto lost was because of it, there's even a chapter named after it.

Most characters nowadays including Kabuto and Naruto can respond to it so no big deal even if he did have his powers from the start. No part of the plan would have been changed, Deva Realm was still there the whole time, he just didn't have ST/BT/CT. So where was he when said defensive formation was torn apart and the other paths were effortlessly destroyed?
