Frankly I'm surprised how many people underrate Jiraiya/overrate Deidara...
Sage mode has genjutsu, massive chakra, and speed+strength along with everything else. For people who assume deidara will use his ultimate weapon: do you forget how long that took to load? He can be in a genjutsu in half that time. Also Jirayia is faster than the Sasuke that fought Deidara. + the exprience that man has. Come on guys...

With sage mode , ma + pa and his toads jiraiya would destroy deidara , whats he gonna do? Explode? Jiraiya will just hide in the toads mouth. What are you five? Face the facts! Jiraiya has many many many jutsu he could use to make deidara look like a genin -_- :izuna:

Fire style
Toad flame bombs
The oil jutsu he knows
--- if jman used the oil jutsu and redirected ANY of deidara's bombs he would be dead
Lets see some "facts"
1. We have never seen deidara's clay explode without his say so (mines excluded because he wouldn't normally have tobi)
1.5 So why do you think fire would make them explode? even if you cannot fathom how that is possible, Deidara's clay is much faster and more versatile then ANY fire attack evasion of a straight forward fire would be easy. (see Gaara fight for speed)
2. Deidara's C4 kills anything that breathes on a cellular level.
2.5 (only person to ever get out of it had quick genjutsu AND lighting affinity)
3. jiraiya has no lighting attacks.
4. jiraiya only goes into sage when it is absolutely necessary. (he fought pain for a few chapters before deciding to go into it.)
5. It takes STATIONARY time for jiraiya to enter Sage.(hence his summon)
6. Deidara is VERY hot headed, and would use his best moves instantly. (didn't use vs Gaara because he needed him alive)
7. Animals can be killed by C4.
So i ask you, how dose Jiraiya survive C4?

Well, reading this thread since I last posted on here I see a lot of people talk about C4. I said before it was the only way Deidara had a chance, but he still loses. Why?
1. Jiraiya could use hair jizo, giant fireball, pa's wind slicer, Gamabunta's slash, etc, to strike at Deidara before he had a chance to complete C4... easily.
2. Jiraiya can sense C4 bombs because they are chakra-- SM can sense chakra. SM can also sense danger. Jiraiya also has the barrier tech! He knows where the bombs are at all times.
3. Jiraiya can sink fat Deidara in underworld swamp, as it has been said before, stopping the nano bombs from dispersing.
4. Jiraiya can either blow away the bombs with fire or detonate them early with it.
5. Jiraiya can go inside toad gourd to escape C4 bombs if nothing else, or bring the fat Deidara inside it and leave, another way of escaping them... Or he could sacrifice a summon and dimension-leap.
Reviewing these it is clear C4 will not be able to beat Jiraiya in this battle. And if C4 can't stop him, nothing of Deidara's can.

if the animal dies does that mean jiraiya dies? & i suppose deidaras clay is as fast as lightning? It takes little to no time to summon and you completely underestimate sage mode. incase you havent noticed deidara needs time to CHEW clay then throw it . my goodness.
Also are you trying to make a point by saying jiraiya cant control how the flame comes out of his mouth ? are you kidding me? who said it would be a small flame or one going straight?
Are you also implying that if a flame hit his bombs they would not explode?
Please go to school and learn how bombs react to fire kay thanks

You are confusing a manga with the real world. Please try to keep them straight in the future.
Also, i refuse to debate with you any further unless you provide links to your facts.
I need proof, that jiryia can change the direction of flame AFTER he shot it. (because deidara can change direction of clay after he shoots it)
I need proof of fire hitting clay and it exploding
I need proof that Deidara cannot make a clay C4 clone (i.e. no chewing.)

Deidara's a bad match-up for Jiraiya due to his ability to fly, but I still think Jiraiya would win, mid difficulty.

1. Please review Deidara Vs Sauske. Deidara almost ALWAYS uses a Clay clone. therefore even if they "hit" him before he could detonate, it would just be clay and c4 would stilld detonate. (in a very wide radius.)
2. Sm grants "ability to sense danger" and that was said in the fight vrs raikage where he dodged and hit. It had NOTHING to do with seeing chakara. That is complete nonsense and i would ask to show manga facts proving SM can sense chakara without touching it. Also, he has barrier but remember, he can only sense the position of whats inside. Deidara's c4 exceeds that barrier size. Not only would the entire barrier be filled but also the outside would be too.
3. Swamp would do nothing. It would stop the mobility (which isn't needed) and it would simply explode. the time it would take for Jiryia to activate the technique it would be exploded, or if he did it as it was dropping deidara would just explode it right before it hits ground.
4. Proof of fire detonating his clay please.
5. The only thing of validity here is Jiryia escaping in the gourd, but I can only remember it being used to move after he killed one Pain. I don't really know how fast that could be used. So that is the only potiental thing he could use to escape.
however, that is contigent on him knowing what the bomb did. Why would he run away, when his hair could protect him. (he dose just think its an explosion.) Also, the clone c4, has no counter.
i really dont understand why this board underestimates smarts and experience..... as old as the jman is do you guys really think he has NEVER had a battle with a long ranged foe?! couple that with the fact that deidara is a hothead and an idiot.. gama bunta super jump coupled with sage mode flame bombs means a jman win at mid dif. thread

Deidera, he can fly, use bombs , is an experienced akatsuki member and even when everything else fails he can blow himself up. J-man can't win this. Either Deidera or draw ;P
so then jman is just going to stand there with his thumbs up his ass while someone swells up to the size of a building?! come on now. he summons a toad stomach and waits out the blast while sipping tea

You are using the quote WAYYYY out of context.

that is the ONLY time it is mentioned about "sensing" danger in SM.
WITH the context it means SM basically acts as 3 tomoe sharingan.

He can sense danger, so if the bombs are sent at him, he will sense it and avoid them... not out of context at all
and even though it is the only time it is mentioned, it can still be applied to any situation in which someone is using sage mode
I know you are trying to be cool and all by rooting for deidara, but come on, it's jiriaya
