You did not get it, eh? Naruto is not Arrogant, nor is he ignorant. Naruto is simply hiding his emotions so he can protect himself.He's trying to be an optimist and look on the bright side of life,and thus we will rarely see him as vulnerable as he was when he talked to Hiruzen.

though it is a cartoon fiction, but what uzumaki naruto namikazee represents is great. the probability of existing as naruto and not becoming bad is 1 to 100.
i mean not knowing ur own identity
no family, no friends, no relatives to guide him and on top he his a jinchuuriki

ignored, abused and sometimes battered as if u do not exist.
he his being treated like this 4rm d very first day of his life until recently (16 good yrs).
and still making up his mind never to give up and becoming acknowledge 2ru the entire naruto world.
tell me if u experience such what would u do, what would u have become.(think again)
kabuto, sasuke, both xperience something of such though not quite similar but they both go haywire (bad).
I guess it wasn't easy 4 naruto though.

It was kind of cruel for them not to tell him about his parents. I don't think Minato would have approved with the way they treated him. They should have told him about his parents, at least that way he wouldn't have acted up and did all the pranks on the villagers. It's a miracle he turned out the way he did because he could have been like Sasuke. This was a good episode, at least now we understand what he had to go through before he was a genin.
