I have been thinking about Kakashi's and Tobi's Time-Space tech...
There is no need for briefing the techs, you all know but anyway,
Kamui-The only known user is Kakashi. And it transports the target to an unknown dimension...
Tobi's S/T tech: Also transports the target to different dimension from where till now nobody escaped.
Both are shown to have a spiraling pattern when used.
My actual theory starts now...

Secret behind Tobi's S/T ninjutsu​

I think the secret behind Tobi's S/T ninjutsu is that he creates a hole in other dimension and uses perfect Kamui on himself then enters the dimension from where he again opens a portal through which he comes out wherever he wants.
We all know that kamui is a versatile tech and is wide ranged this explains the appearance of Tobi at desired space.
Tobi said to Kakashi that tech like kamui wont work on him, which leads me to think that Tobi knows in and out of Kamui...​

So who has highest chance of having same tech as Kakashi? Well that would be logically obito right? I am entering into that branch of theory as it has been explained over and over by various ppl.

So who hell is Tobi? My theory​

^^ We all know that certain sharingan abilities can be passed down to others like for example Itachi's amaterasu to Sasuke...
I think Tobi is a new character to be introduced in the series, since its not new to introduce new faces, who might be a parent or sibling of Obito..
^^ Tobi can also be most likely an uchiha or Uzumaki since he can use Sharingan and Rinnegan with ease...​

Theory on how Tobi lived long..​

^^ Now you may ask then how Tobi lived so long if he is from a distant past... I think the unknown dimension slows/freezes time which would explain that question, though its a long stretch or 1st Hokages cells might helped him achieve it partially, its only a theory.. lol...​

the chance of tobi being an uzumaki is very low .....since the uzumaki clan was famous fory its red hairs....though i m not sure ..cuz naruto has his dad's hairs ....anyway ...i think that ...he actually first appeared during itachi's mission , wen itachi was an anbu leader....next we saw him during the nine tails attack .....also danzo was familiar with this guy tobi , but i dont think he knew tobi's actual identity .......
now he can be izuna uchiha ......since madara said that "its his doing " this means that madara knew about it .....we aw the dead body of izuna ...it can be fake ...a genjutsu or something ...see faking a dead body is not a big deal in ninja world ......now madara took izuna's MS to gain EMS .....so izuna was left without eyes ...but he stole eyes from another dead uchiha .....now wen madara was dying ....he passed some of hashirama's cells to izuna ...

Okay nice point .........see ..if we believe that Izuna willingly gave his eyes to madara ...as said by tobi ....and acquired another set of sharingan eyes to battle ....now he has new eyes ....and he is an ally of madara ....see there's no proof that madara betrayd izuna ...it's all the view point of itachi and tobi ......i guess orochimaru too had some sort of connection with tobi

How can Tobi ever be obito. Obito was a really nice person and not selfish at all and cared a lot about his comrades and the village. Now look at Tobi. The personalitys really do not match.

Clearly he is Izuna, durrrr.When Izuna died, he talked with the rinnegan ancestor, similar to what kakashi did with his father. Madara brought him back and Izuna came back with new knowledge and abilities thanks to the rinn ancestor. THis gave him power to travel through dimensions and the rage to fufill the plan that started with the elder ancestor's jealousy.

Good theory, and it shows that you put some thought into it. You are right that Tobi could be literally anybody (new or old to the series), and it's nice to see a theory that does not involve hair styles or body types (i.e. things that tend to change over time).

I made a similar thread about this a long time ago. However, I was speculating that Tobi is a combination of Izunas DNA and the left side of Black Zetsu. Then they found the other sharingan in Obito's corpse and took it for their own use, thus giving Tobi access to the perfect form of Kamui.

1) first and foremost, Madara knows who Tobi is - HE KNOWS

2) then Madara stated that Izuna died

Madara does know who Tobi is. Tobi is following the same plan mentioned by Madara(Moon's eye plan) and Kabuto mentioned him to real Madara as "fake Madara".

Madara knowns Tobi and he confirmed Izuna's death. Aside from this, Izuna was confirmed dead in Tobi's flashback (lying in a coffin along with other fallen Uchiha's) and he was confirmed to be dead in 3rd databook.
