first of all it's only the summoner that gets sealed with the death god so she just died after her biju extraction and kyuubi claw (yes even uzumaki's have a limit) so mianto and yin kurama were sealed; kushina would be beast but she needs an element jutsu to be like a trump card xd

Ok so, didn't she get sealed along with Minato?

She sealed some of her chakra in Naruto just like Minato. However, her soul was not sealed within the shinigami using the dead demon consuming seal technique like Minato's was. Therefore, her soul still resides in the "pure" world and can be subject to Edo.

Would Naruto be able to converse with her and have her help him against Kurama if it was Chakra only? Also the fact that she could only move on and see Minato after meeting Naruto suggests something more than just her chakra was sealed

Basically we don't have all the information to see exactly how the 8 triagrams seal works but the interaction between Naruto and his parents and them talking about being able to move on suggests more than just Chakra being sealled
