Also without wood hashirama has earth and water techniques, but also the uchiha clan are a clan of geniuses. Believe itachi and sasuke were top of their class before they activated the sharigan.

If Preta path absorbed an ocean of boiling toad oil, Mokuton is no problemo. chakra based wood is chakra based, until I see preta path fail to absorb Mokuton, that's my story and I'm sticking to it
