So we all know Itachi has been revived by Kabuto's jutsu and has a mind of his own thanks to his genjutsu but will he stay that way? Will the resurection jutsu be destroyed killing Itachi? Will Sasuke and Itachi ever meet up? Any ideas or opinions would be interesting.
lol hopefully it won't come to something like that. I think he'll somehow be released by his soul being at peace. Maybe by believing that his precious brother is in the hands of Naruto, who Itachi entrusts to save him

Edo Itachi and Sasuke may or may not meet up on their respective ways to Kabuto's hideout and the battlefield, we can't know that for sure.
Itachi told Naruto that he would leave Sasuke to him and he preferred not meeting him, but we all know how Itachi's wishes and plans concerning Sasuke tend to fail due to the bloodthirst of said younger brother.
But, Itachi is definitely not here to stay. He's heading towards Kabuto's hideout to end Edo Tensei, probably by using a genjutsu or he knows something about Edo Tensei that hasn't been revealed yet.
Anyways, once the technique is over, Itachi will turn to dust. And Kabuto would be just standing there, in a state of loss, thinking WTF?.
Itachi just managed to overwrite the mind control talisman placed in him, using Shisui's eye. He's still an Edo Tensei, that hasn't changed.
The only difference is that now he's not controlled by Kabuto, but is acting on the command of protecting Konoha.
Interesting theory.
I think that he won't be sealed away by someone, but instead, he himself will choose to disintegrate away. How that will happen, I don't know.
I can imagine it, his last speech to Naruto and Sasuke about friendship and watch each other's backs, and then finally choosing to move on, resting in peace at last.

Yep, in other words, Kabuto has no control over Itachi, including releasing him. I find it odd that you claim Kabuto can release Itachi whenever he wants yet Kabuto did not do so when he needed to do so the most a.k.a when Itachi started to fight Nagato.

It seems like you're not able to grasp the concept that mind controlling talismans and Edo Tensei are two different things.
Itachi overwrote the talisman.
He's still an Edo Tensei.
How can Kotoamatsukami, a genjutsu, cancel out you being an Edo Tensei?
Kabuto is probably unable to cancel the technique one by one. He hasn't mentioned it to Tobi. Plus, the only way he phrased it was ''You get me to perform the necessary seals, and the technique will end.''
He never said anything about being able to cancel each Edo one by one.
Not being able to end it one by one might be the downside of the jutsu, like Itachi mentioned.

Kabuto says "Not even Edo Tensei can hold him". This shows that not only has Itachi broken out of Kabutos control, he has also broken out of Edo Tensei. Kabuto would have tried to reverse summon him, and failed.

Itachi's says "calm down, I have layered another jutsu ontop of the enemy jutsu". The Jutsu obviously being Edo Tensei.
He also says "with this, Edo Tensei is canceled.

Kishi has made it pretty clear that Itachi is out of Edo Tensei, or else Kabuto would have summoned him back already. I guess you could still call him an Edo though because he is still dead in a way. But he can't be summoned anymore. If Itachi forces Kabuto to end Edo Tensei, he would still be alive. He should be anyway.
If Itachi casts a genjutsu on Kabuto and then dies, the genjutsu would stop and Kabuto would be free to resummon the Edos or make more Edos. Would seem pretty useless to me.

But I'm insisting on betting on Itachi turning into dust when Kabuto cancels the technique.
He's still an Edo Tensei zombie. Look at his eyes.

It's just that now, Kabuto has no control over him.
Itachi is in the state Torune was, before the talisman was placed in his head.

He's conscious, can't be controlled, but is still an Edo Tensei.
As for why Kabuto didn't summon Itachi back as soon as he lost control over him.
First of all, he might not have the ability, now that he can't control Itachi.
Second of all, why would you summon a man who has the perfect skills to be able to end your technique to your side?

It's not that easy to summon boss Edo Tensei's. Kabuto must have spent years harvesting the required DNA and human sacrifices. He even commented on the trouble he went through.
Sure, if what I claim will happen, happens (Itachi making Kabuto release the technique via Sharingan and then turning to dust, leaving Kabuto alive) Kabuto will be able to collect the samples again and try his luck with Edo Tensei another time. But the sole reason Kabuto created his army was to trade his support in this war in exchange for Sasuke.
Kabuto doesn't need this army. He's an introvert.
He doesn't like the spotlight. I doubt he'd decide to take on the five nations after the war with a new Edo Tensei army. He has no reason to do so.
If Sasori and Shin could be released when they feel their lives have been completed then it should be the same for Itachi once Sasuke has either switched sides or died.
