I just realized that this would be an amazing fight..
Because sasori is a puppet. And it renders all genjutsu from itachi useless..

Amaterasu is useless because of the ability to switch from one puppet to another. Thanks to his one central point.

Susanoo cannot be used as an offense here, but as a very solid defense.
Totsuka sword would be useless. Unless it hit the core.

Tsukyomi doesn't work as he is a puppet.

Itachi has to resort to his base jutsus, in which he is amazing like any other ninjas.
The sharingan helps him to predict most if not all of sasori's movements.

Amaterasu does work, Itachi leveled an entire forest with it, switching puppets won't save Sasori. Even if Itachi could only target one puppet at a time Itachi would spam it and Sasori would run out of puppets.

Tsukyomi does work because genjutsu works on the senses. If Sasori can see then Sasori can be put under genjutsu.

It's not even close, Itachi wins easily.

you can't cut chakra strands unless you have a chakra infused weapon or gentle fist, Itachi to my recollection has neither

The way i see this fight 2 of the best ninjas of there own village i havent seeing no one be in Itachi lvl from the leaf and no one from the Sand village with Sasori skill there both the best each village can offer (garra is strong but because he the jinchuriki) not born with the skill Both Itachi and Sasori are born with

But Sasori is just a bad match for Sharigan user IS like anyone with MS is strong again orochimaru everyone has there weakness Itachi said it himself

Here's how I see the battle playing out:

Itachi and Sasori are facing each other with some distance between them. Itachi opens his eyes. Sasori and whatever puppet or puppets he's in burst into the black flames of Amaterasu and Sasori dies.

I guess Itachi can dodge every attack after all.

Amaterasu seems to almost drain him as do most of his other jutsus so in a prolonged battle I doubt he'd spam what low chakra resevoir he has. He'd most likely try less straining attacks before going to these last resorts and during that time him not getting hit once by sasori is unimaginable either by a scratch from a weapon or poison gas

Because, people like kisame and other characters in the show already has shown feats of strength.

Itachi is a genius ninja. I admit that. And he is one of the most powerful, and he can beat some of the opponents that sasori cannot.
But i dont think this fight is in itachi's favour.

Itachi has very well chakra manipulation in order to hand seals, and ninjutsu very effectively.

The thread had Itachi fully healthy. Itachi had low chakra because he was sick. If Itachi's not sick his chakra is perfect.

None of that matters anyway. Amaterasu is a flame that consumes everything until what it is consuming is gone, including other flames. In other words, anything that catches fire with the black flames of Amaterasu will be completely destroyed. One Amaterasu and Sasori dies.

I love Itachi, Nearly everyone loves Itachi, but he loses this match.

Like people before me have stated, Genjutsu and Amaterasu, his most powerful offensive attack is useless her. Sasori has so many Jutsus and puppets he can use, Itachi can't go through this match without one scratch.
Itachi's only key here is his normal jutsu and his Susanoo, although he can't keep it activated for lond periods of time, and Sasori being a puppet, has a huge, if not infinite amount of stamina.

Everyone keeps saying that Itachi will outsmart him, but thats just like saying that Shikamaru could beat Sasori just by outsmarting him, it doesn't work like this.

So Sasori wins this.

He was taking medicine for the sickness until days before the fight vs Sasuke.
