Gaara is Itachi's Worst Match Up(Read)

Gaara is a long range fighter all Itachi's known genjutsu are short range.



Gaara can pull Itachi out of Susanoo(he doesn't need Onoki for this, Onoki just reduced the amount of exertion he'll need for this) and crush him. He can avoid Yasaka's Magatama and Totsuka by riding his sand to remove himself out of the way(it was fast enough to dodge Amaterasu)



Gaara can block Amaterasu with his defense(he did so against Sasuke's Amaterasu)


With no genjutsu(Tsukuyomi included) and no Amaterasu or Susanoo attacks, Itachi is dead, won't you agree? If not, tell me Itachi's options.


NOTE: He can't use water techs to destroy Gaara's sand, only oily water can accomplish this.

any water jutsus can destroy gaara's sand moves and itachi is able to use genjutsus at really long range, it was stated in the manga.

Gaara cant pull itachi out of his sasunoo. Gaara only pulled madara out because of the help fomr oonki and madara's sasunoo was imperfect. Gaara can block Amaretsu so yea. I dont think tsykunomi is a short range attack.

Yeah but it can't use this strength when Itachi is out of it as seen when Madara's Susanoo faded when Gaara dragged him out of it and the complete Susanoo is still not protected underneath.

do not doubt itachi's power bro, he can lock gaaras soul away into that gourd. itachi is a fighting genius, gaara could not handle a genjutsu dude. i have never heard of gaara breaking a powerful genjutsu. maybe if he still had that bijuu, but even then he would still be no match for itachi. but gaara would give itachi hell, but itachi would reverse the entire battle.

Alright I checked, it's short range. But comon now, do you really expect Itachi to sit back and get recked by Garra from afar? Also your assuming Gaara would move away from Itachi if he charged him, without prior knowledge Gaara would raise his shield and hold his ground if Itachi charged, Itachi would then nail him with a genjutsu and Gaara would be done

Gaara can ride his sand to avoid Totsuka, he's a long range fighter so he can fight out of Itachi's range of genjutsu so genjutsu won't be a factor here.

Itachi's susanoo has long range also, and it will break through gaaras sand, the sword has a pretty long range itself seeing how big it is, I agree it wil be a tricky fight for itachi, but gaara's attacks are so linear, it wont be hard for itachi to figure out a strategy.
