The gist of it is NB was dying because it was blacklisted. It was blacklisted because the site hosted a ton of manga and anime content. That meant that "narutobase.net" was removed from the index of prominent search engines like Google & Bing. Essentially it was hidden from the rest of the world, except to those who knew about the site in the first place. Being hidden meant a huge dip in traffic (i.e. a decrease in the number of visitors who'd come across the site and be like "oh, this looks cool, let me make an account and participate"). WLA, short for We Love Anime, is a large server on discord with 20k members. Versuvio and Zise partnered with Jas, the founder/leader of WLA. At some point it was decided that NB should move to a new forum that wasn't blacklisted or whatever. The move took a while because there was a lot of data to transfer. And now, here we are.
Edit: I'm probably missing a few crucial details but that's how I understood it.

Wow. Thank you. It makes sense that the site would be blacklisted, theres no helping that. I'm glad versuvio made some moves and saved the site.
Has the site become more active since the move?
In addition to what's been mentioned;
2014 - Naruto manga ended, activity died down.
2016-2017 - Final phase of Shippuden, not everyone wanted to move on to Boruto.
= Few remaining members that knew about the site got two huge dropps in addition to the blacklisting, which again meant very limited activity and dying sections (in the end RP and general spamming was the only thing left, lol).
It was oficially opened this last weekend so got to give it some time. From the looks of it though, definitely.

Activity has improved quite a bit actually. There's like a new member every 50 minutes or so. And the average daily users online is in the upper echelons of 70s and 80s, whereas before it was approx. 30 or 40.
I think the NB record from 2012 was 12 000 members and guests viewing the site at once. Obviously not that many members of the bunch though but still xD We'll get back there with AB I'm certain, in time

Lol I've heard. If we ever reach anywhere near those numbers, the site will need quite a bit of moderation. There was one time V closed the site for a few days because the amount of trolling couldn't be contained lmao.
Lool yea back when Tobi was revealed, the site had a massive spike.
