It was funny, Seems Boruto has lesser genjutsu resistance than Shikadai, let alone compared to Sarada. The prodigy thing is kind of overhyped.

I'll risk sounding like a fanboy and say that not having Boruto utilize any long-ranged techniques against the opponent with a big ass short range advantage constitutes as a plotnerf, especially after giving him three f*cking elements to work with. This time, sure, fair enough, confined space and all that, plus he didn't know it was Shikadai, I get the close range...but the one in the Chunin Exams is really jarring.

Lol I thought it was obvious that Boruto wasn't going all out against Shikadai who he thought to be Ryogi. Neither Shikadai nor Boruto wanted to kill Ryogi, not to mention he probably expected Ryogi(Shikadai) to use ice style and not shadow paralysis.

As for the genjutsu then Shikadai already had a lot of practice dealing with genjutsu thanks to Mirai while Boruto had no such training.

Anyway OP didn't you call this arc filler? Why are you making these claims as facts then?
