Two facts about Boruto's dojutsu that may or may not mean Boruto may be OP.

1. The Dojutsu was named.

The fact that the Dojutsu was called the Jougan by Toneri means that the eye existed before for Toneri to have knowledge about it. Did Hamura know? What lead to the Jougan first appearance and who was the user to originally have it?

The eyes origins story may lead to the past and unlike some theorist who speculated it to just be a new mutated eye, it being connected to the past might lead to a new form of lore, be it simple or even universal in scale.

2. We didn't see anyone have this Dojutsu until Boruto... The eye could've been hinted or shown in the Naruto series at any point. Beyond the writers choice to have it as a new eye, the fact that it was named by Toneri again like previously stated only implies that the eye existed before.

It isn't just that the two siblings, Boruto and his sister have eye hues we haven't seen before in the series.

Meaning that we are in territory that wasn't seen in Naruto, etc...



Regardless that means the eye would have to find its roots from somewhere else. Somewhere that isn't in the Narutoverse but beyond.

We haven't seen Momo adress the eye by name but he seems to have some hint as well for Boruto and his dojutsus? (plural)

What the beyond is can lead to feats higher then Kaguya as Kaguya did not have the dojutsu, neither did her offspring.


So now it is a wait and see basis on the eyes' destiny

The anime can give us something during the retconned movie arc, while for the Manga we might see something in this Ao arc.

Regardless Boruto's eye is other worldly as in not being alien since all dojutsu are but rather not being present in the Naruto world at all.

it is based on who the original eye owner was

this is an eye even Kaguya herself didn't have... and seeing Toneri's prophecies about light and darkness and some galactic scale destiny this is something beyond just Naruto and Sasuke brotherly fued that spanned generations

Yes it has some connection to Otsutsuki as implied by author.

It should be noted that Jougan means pure eye so Hinata and Hanabi most likely have potential for it. But sadly Hyuga sisters are going to be ignored again.

they will stretch the Jougan as much as they can

Me personally I'm of the view the jougans just a title then actual name like the sharingan use to be called heavens eye.

And I'm leaning toward his eye was prophesied and that's where the name came from

These lines surely indicate some sort of calamity befalling Bolt down the line. Naruto may very well die, but I won't put it over them to kill even Hinata and Himawari.
