On the plus side Naruto has finally used a different jutsu, despite Mud Wall being relatively boring. I wonder if he knew the handsigns from when Kitsuchi relayed the seals to the SA to stop the Juubidama.

I don't see any reasonable justification for using a similar device, regardless of whether it was meant to counter the Ootsutsuki or not.
I find it interesting that Naruto would forgo the benefits of the Hashi arm (chakra, potential Mouton) over the ability to absorb jutsu. If the enemy finds a way to hack/disable the device, and Naruto becomes too reliant on incorporating it into his fighting style, he could find himself without the ability to weave signs (ie Shadow clones) should the device be disabled.

Sasuke have nothing to do with this, he was the first one to notice Boruto using ninja tech, he didn't scold him he ignored it.
and you don't have to bring Sasuke whenever something bad is being said about Naruto.
Sasuke does not approve of this, he even warned Boruto about his seal on his hand! Sasuke does not even use a cell phone, as it turned out in Gaiden! Translation of Sasuke's phrase: I'm starting to think that you really grew up (about boruto).

Oh but he did,he did aknowledge the need to use the device against the Otsutsuki,unless you haven't been following this thread from the beginning.
No one is saying you can't use the devices as konohamaru was using it when out with his team. But in the exam it was specifically said the device was not allowed and you'd be disqualified if used, Just like the fight between Naruto and konohamaru when he used sage mode (don't know if its filler, probably is), and it wasn't allowed so he got disqualified. 2 different scenarios. Boruto shouldn't complain the whole chunin exam is about what you can do, and using said device (which can malfunction at any time) doesn't show any of that.

I don't believe that's correct, honestly. The reason why Naruto looks rather contradictory here is because of the technology itself, and what he said about it earlier. Like you stated, Naruto banned the device from the CHunin Exams because it inhibited a ninja's true abilities, and they relied on the tools themselves. This technology could stunt the growth of ninja, like Boruto for example.
However Naruto is okay with technology now, but this could also be his downfall. He doesn't need to use this device as he was capable of fighting Momoshiki along with Sasuke, just fine. But now he seems hypocritical to the technology situation.
What would happen to the world if this technology became rapid, and now all ninjas started using it? He couldn't stop it.
That couldn't be far from the truth.
