Were the Hyuga even the strongest with the absence of the Uchiha?

Hiruzen is a Sarutobi and Tsunade is a Senju and they're both stronger than anything the Hyuga have to offer.

I think that strongest clan thing refers to the average power of the clan members so although hiruzen himself was op the Sarutobi clan has little presence or feats beyond the third, even when considering asuma and konohamaru. Similarly, the senju seem to be an essentially dead clan save for tsunade and the uzumakis. I would say that as a clan hyuuga would have to be the strongest behind the presently almost nonexistent uchiha and senju

Yea I was reaching a little bit with the Tsunade thing but in part one Hiruzen and Asuma were both stronger than any Hyuga we saw in combat and the Sarutobi clan seemed to have a lot of members around.

Just think about it. Hiruzen > any Hyuga. Asuma > any Hyuga until we saw feats from Hiashi in part two.

Sure, Hiruzen > any Hyuga and Asuma > any Hyuga bar Hiashi, but that doesn't even come close to making up for the other Hyuga clan members. Not even close, especially since Hiashi alone would defeat Asuma pretty comfortably. As for the other Sarutobi clan members, it's a million times more likely that the Hyuga as a whole are stronger than them since the Hyuga have Byakugan.

Not really since there's only three Hyuga's that are actually high level ninja (Neji, Hiashi, and Hizashi). We simply don't know how strong the rest of the Hyuga and Sarutobi members are.

Lmao what you are saying makes no sense. The fact that we don't know how strong the rest are is exactly why it's an assumption, and an opinion that Hyuga>Sarutobi based on them having Byakugan, and OP technique, is a better assumption than the Sarutobi being better based on nothing.

Then we have the fact that it's stated multiple times that the Hyuga are the strongest in the leaf post Uchiha massacre so idk why this is even a question in the first place.
