I'd recommend looking up the filler guide. Part of Kenshin's problem was there was filler made to keep the anime from catching the manga. That last arc is deep as hell. Ties together the entire story.It's pretty short too. I want to say the manga was 300 chapters and the anime was 70 episodes of canon material.

Haikyuu is really good even if you are not a fan of volleyball ,you will grow to like the sport XD
And Rurouni Kenshi is also really good

Mushishi seems to be directed at a more open minded audience. Black Lagoon is refreshing, it haves some good violence and profanity. Can't say anything about Haikyuu! since i don't touch anime sports, the only exception was Captain tsubasa when i was younger. Rurouni Kenshin, is a good classic.
