It's had its ups and down, but here we are almost every single day. Reading about it, writing about it. Some of the characters we even love like they're our own child. We fantasize about them, draw them, debate about them. Most of us, if not all of us, know this anime like the back of ours hands. If Naruto didn't exist, there would be a huge gap in our lives. It hurts my heart to imagine a world in which I have not experienced the joy of watching Naruto all my life. Naruto is my childhood. He's been there all my life. When I grew up, he grew up. I like a lot of anime's, but I only love one. I love its inconsistencies, plot contradictions, all its over powered and under powered characters. All of it. The good and the bad. Could it have been better? Maybe. But nothing is perfect, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Not even feel nostalgic to it like DBZ is to me, Nardo lost me before it could be nostalgic. Pretty mediocre to me

No... just no. If someone is entitled to pity just for nostalgia's sake, then that doesn't make this series a masterpiece. A masterpiece is something that consistently stays appealing to newer and older generations.

It made an impact as one of the most watched/read manga/ show around the world for a long time and left a legacy for mangas publishing after it. A lot of people got in to this genre because of Naruto. Whether you like the story of the manga itself in the end or not doesn't change any of it's achievements it already had by that time.

It does get that much credit regardless of hater and trolls. Ignore them.

As someone put it elsewhere:

Edit: a few of the hater identified themselves it seems.

All what you wrote could be true. The original naruto was a master piece to me and it introduced the world of manga and anime to me. I would admit naruto has a little influence in my live . It was a great series,well....until after the pain arc where everything gradually became garbage.

Because random meaningless comments are considered spam.We are not discussing Fairy tail here so post about it was removed and so were the replies to it.

Naruto is far from a masterpiece. Remove nostalgia & personal preference, Naruto is at best a 3 out of 5. It suffers from:

-Poorly written characters
-Noticeable Repetition
-Low impact villains
-Plot Holes
-Contradicting Messages

Naruto(Part 1) was actually really good and fresh. It came out at the right time and quickly appealed to western audiences who were already into shows like Yu Yu Haksho & Inuyasha and was a good introduction to anime/manga for many people in the West.

However, popularity doesn't=something being good.

Naruto is far from a masterpiece. Had DBZ never ended I doubt I would be into this series. There are plenty of better series to watch. Naruto's peak points was back in the chunin exams arc. Afterwards it became too much about Naruto and Sasuke.

You need to subscribe to the Berserk greatness :Sparks:

No matter how one defines 'masterpiece' and how of a vague concept the meaning of that word is. Berserk is without a doubt, a true masterpiece.

It seems like it rode the wave of English dubs out here...or I guess was a good chunk of it. It had a bunch of great ideas that either stretched on to long, or where hacked out/ barely touched upon later, but that's to be expected of something so long. As far as how it'll go down in the years? I can see it on the same mantle as dragonball is to a lot of people. Personally I thought it was above average at best, but it was fun to read and follow
