Universe has to have a beginning, has to have a creator but something that is by definition more complex than the universe needs neither.

^And that's why religious people are mocked, just stick to faith and quit pretending as if there's a logical argument for God.
Why do you think complexity implies contingency?

@bold: There certainly are logical arguments for God. Do you not know what apologetics is?

can god create a boulder or rock, so heavy, that not even he himself can lift it?:Sparks:
An excerpt from :

"The problems will be analysed on the concept of omnipotence because the stone argument is by far the most common one used so it should be easier to understand. The crucial flaw in these types of objections (and especially this one) lies in their misunderstanding of the concept of omnipotence. To elaborate, omnipotence here is improperly asserted as the ability to perform certain tasks (even more so blatantly physical ones). While this may be a plausible notion of omnipotence for some theistic conceptions of God, I find an alternate meaning to be mandatory in order to properly describe omnipotence in the context of classic theism and, even more specifically, the 3 abrahamic religions.

What could this alternate meaning be? Well, as the all-time classic essay „Maximal Power“ says, omnipotence should be understood as the ability to actualise certain states of affairs. Understood this way, we have a perfectly legitimate way out of the skeptic's scheme. I'll return to the example in which the atheist lays out the objection that „If God is all powerful He should be able to overpower Himself“, now what is actually being said here? The being with the ability to actualize all states of affairs should be able to actualize more than all states of affairs. The absurdity should be apparent, for how can a being actualise more than all states of affairs? What is being insisted here, I think this should be apparent by now, isn't actually a task to be performed (so even if we went by the atheist's original conception of omnipotence there would be no problem) instead it is meaningless gibberish – a logical impossibility. "
tl;dr: Omnipotence doesn't need to include the ability to actualize incoherent states of affairs which is exactly what your question talks about since anything that overpowers a being which cannot be overpowered is incoherent and as such represents a nothing at all.

So those guys that liked your previous post misunderstood it too or somethin?

Also, I see what you mean about Raikage. He made a poor approach and he knew how this thread would go down. Idk why he still does it and now it's rip for him. lol
I don't know. Around 15 people liked my post and I really don't know what each and every one of them was thinking. But I can imagine that many of them just liked it because of the shear entertainment value of the post and/or because of the shameful satisfaction we all get when we see someone getting burned rather than liking it because they share my opinions on certain topics. It's of no importance either way, however that those three I punished didn't read my post carefully on the other hand is. Now to be honest I think the OP is just either too young or too inadequate to talk about matters like these rather than truly attempting to troll. The fact that he made an alt account shortly after I banned him to report my latest post and insulted me in the accompanying comment, just shows how shallow his "I don't give a damn about being banned"-comment was. The other two on the other hand just used this as a pretense to gang up on a mod. They pretty much used the OP as a punching bag that takes the full brunt of the 'big bad admin's wrath' while they then swoop in pretending to be moral knights and if they would get punished for it, that would be an excellent excuse for them to show how "corrupt" the staff is.

But in all their eagerness to gang up on the boogie admin, they didn't really bother to think things through and read the posts properly. If they did, they would have realized that for starters the OP really wasn't worth it to risk anything. If I would be a theist, I really wouldn't want to be associated with someone that uses such an appalling reasoning, in fact it's so horrific I would consider it as an attempt to insult and discredit theists rather than support them. And if they had read my post properly, they also would have noticed that I'm not taking a particular theist/atheist stance, they just assumed I did. I only pointed out what the full extent was of the OP's reasoning and that all the stuff he was saying about giant squids and the like, which has little to do with there being god or not, was just wrong. Nowhere though did I condemn the faith and belief he has in a particular god. So that they then say I am threatening people because they don't agree with my opinion, well that's plain BS. It's also hypocritical and again one of the troll clichés. Whenever they say something, no matter how offensive, they hide behind the excuses that it's the "truth" and their "freedom of speech", but when I make a post that's perfectly legit, but not to their licking, I'm "threatening" and "abusing my power".

What I said in my first post could have been said just as easy by an atheist as a theist as it neither condemns nor supports the believe in a higher power.

They never learn. Tell them they are breaking a rule and they will claim you are baiting them by telling them so into breaking them. So in the end not matter what you do, you would be the bad guy for these people and their "me-too followers " unless you let them do whatever they want, including bullying you into not doing your job at all. .

By your logic God must have a creator and a beginning, and the same for the thing that created this God and so on. This line of thought is more laughable than a herd of religious people preaching nonsense or better yet worshiping cows.
That isn't my logic, it's the logic of anyone under the impression that the Universe needs a creator because of its complexity.

Though we can agree, it's very a way of thinking that earns its right to be laughed at.
If you accept the idea that there is a God then you must believe that everything is created by him - both physical and abstract concepts. Therefore the concept of creation does not apply to him - because as you inherently believe (when accepting the idea of a God) he is the creator of everything. By saying God has a beginning you're introducing time - but he is the creator of time. Either you believe in the idea that there is a God, that he is the origin for everything and that he has no creator, or you don't believe in him at all.
You can make God as powerful as you like its not going to change that at the end of the day, that a creator would have to be far more more complex than the universe, and following your logic could not exist without a creator himself.

The hubris and hypocrisy of this line of thinking is probably the most annoying thing of all. You say that universe is too complex while also claiming to understand enough of it to declare that it could not be here on its own.

Everyone is entirled to their own beleifs. If they think differently than me I wo't care much. Maybe concern depending on the subject. But I will say this:

No matter what you believe, if you completely reject the possibility that you're wrong, you're a fool.

How exactly is this dodging the question. You make a straw man of theism and impose a false dillemma insisting that I choose one of two options (God cant make a stone so he isnt omnipotent or God can make a stone so again he isnt omnipotent) which is completely meaningless when it is applied on the actual God I believe in and not your cardboard cut out.

If you wish to hold that my answer wasn't adequate you'll have to explain why or how, otherwise you're just irrationally dismissing it (as is common for new atheists).

What the north of number 7, is it left or right? - now if you say the question is incoherent you're dodging it.

That's literally how your reasoning here works. I have provided you a completely legitimate answer and explained why your question doesn't make much sense but you're refusing to acknowledge it because it wasn't the answer you wanted to hear. (Exactly like the ridiculous question about number 7 which I just presented above.)

i've come to the conclusion that the people who don't want to believe in God, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, are the the ones who are afraid, afraid that if they acknowledge God then they'll be bound and will have to follow the commandments and will have to pay for their actions after death.

The Idea of Freedom and no consequence after death is rooted into their brain. They don't want to let go of their desires (may it for money/power/sexual), They don't want to answer to anyone, they want to be the slave of their desires. They just wont let go.

But the funny thing is that just by choosing to not believe, does not change the facts, they can close their eyes for their entire lives and believe in whatever they want and follow their desires to death BUT the Truth still remains. They WILL be brought up before the creator and will have to answer for their deeds, whether they like it or not, and a Raging Blaze awaits them.

Surah Taha, v15

"Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives"

except my question made perfect sense. you can look at it, think about one scenery or the other etc, while your example was a poor attempt to make me look bad by just creating a gibberish question and dodging the original one.

lets see. your god is supposedly omnipotent. meaning, he can do everything, he is all powerfull. if he is still able to lift that rock, he didnt have enough power to make it heavy enough. if it was heavy enough and he wasnt able to lift it anymore, he did have enough power to create it, but not enough to actually lift it. either way it shows a limitation of this so called all powerful god. that just shows how broken this whole concept of a god really is.

sure ALL that evidence out there XDXDXD the bible, or quran are a ****ing joke. ancient books written by people over almost 2k years. both filled with errors and contradictions. i bet you havent ever even read the quran yet. and if you did, it sure was in ancient arabian right? (NOT) it was some poor translation.

youre saying desire is something bad is actually hilarious XD we are biological beings and as such we act. nothing more and nothing less. you know, by believing in allah, youre actually almost as atheistic as me. you dont believe in about 6k different gods, that existed way before your allah ;) so youre basically 99.9% atheist. how will you answer your deeds to those gods, once youre dead? XD

i sure know how i will answer "god" if i was dead:

The earth has a radius of 4000 miles so we can't go 11000 miles below sea level as we would end up on the other side of the earth and we would have passed through the core. We have yet to go that deep in general.

I have read the Quran, both in Arabic and with translations. And there is not a single contradiction in it but i'm pretty sure you haven't even bothered to check it out yourself so your ignorance doesn't really concern me.

I never said desire is a bad thing, but Allah has set boundaries and crossing them is when you go stray from the right path.

All the prophets came with one basic message and that is "God is one(Allah) and only He has the right to be worshipped" Adam, Idrees, Noah, Ibrahim, Ismael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, Soloman, Jesus and Muhammad (Peace be upon them all) and all the messengers came with one message. Its the people who got corrupted. But Allah has promised to protect the final revelation Quran Himself, and it is our guide till judgement day.

i sure know how i will answer "god" if i was dead:

you seem to have a very weird perception of hell. But you already don't seem to take this matter seriously so whatever, guidance is only in the hands of Allah. Best i can do is warn nothing more.

Surah Mulk (16-18)

"Do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not cause the earth to swallow you and suddenly it would sway?"

"Or do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not send against you a storm of stones? Then you would know how [severe] was My warning."

"And already had those before them denied, and how [terrible] was My reproach."

well lets see. islam claims adam and eve to be true. (which is wrong btw. thats not how biology works) islam claims crap about noahs arc (also not how it went down.) according to islam (which refers to the bible and old testament) the earth is >10k years old? face it. your religion is as broken as it can get. it praises violence towards women, towards "infidels". it praises mohammed to be the best human being ever, while he was a pedo, who ****ed a 9year old girl. he killed many infidels and spread his so called religion of peace through VIOLENCE and force. islam is but a christian sect/cult. the same way christianity is a jewish sect and jewism was a sect from the pre-islam persian religion. many gods existed long before your allah. thor promised to banish all ice giants, now i dont see any ice giants so according to your logic thats true right? what could poosibly make you think or feel YOUR religion is the right one. ill tell you what. indoctrination and a huge HUGE amount of ignorance and lack of critical thinking ability (studies showed religious people are way worse at questioning stuff and thinking critically) but what would you expect, from a religion, which FORBIDS questioning. doesnt islam or muslim itself mean seomething like "obedient" or "submission"? it is way beyond me how someone can be as brainwashed as you.

and as for your "perfect quran" it literally took me a minute:

maybe you should reconsider your reading skills. and while youre at it, maybe you should flush your electrical engineering license down the toilet. it all works according to the quran and god right? whats the point in science then? why accept certain aspects of science and then discart anything, that contradicts your so holy and perfect book? you dont have any reasonable answer. like all religious tards your just a tool. a tool of a huge institution which makes money and has an army from people like you

Wait a minute, I thought believing or having faith in something is to know it's real without seeing it?

Believers of any faith don't have to prove anything.

And there you go, i just started counter checking the verses claimed in that link and no surprise that they are not even complete much less incontext.

1.Say, "If I should err, I would only err against myself. But if I am guided, it is by what my Lord reveals to me. Indeed, He is Hearing and near."

This has been mentioned multiple times that Muhammad is only a human and can make mistake like any other human.

surah 67:28 Say, [O Muhammad], "Have you considered: whether Allah should cause my death and those with me or have mercy upon us, who can protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?"

But what separates him from others is that Allah corrects him at once

(Surah Abasa 80, 1-12)
"The Prophet frowned and turned away. Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified. Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him?As for he who thinks himself without need,To him you give attention. And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge], While he fears [ Allah ], From him you are distracted. No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; So whoever wills may remember it."

Quran was taught to Muhammad to make him the best example for humans to follow. He is a model for us because Allah has guided him and such guidance has continued throughout his lifetime.

------

2. Allah, Adam, and the Angels and Satan: This ones pretty straight forward, Satan(Azazel) was a Jinn not an angel to begin with, Angels don't have free will and can't disobey. Satan was cast out for not prostrating to Adam.

(Allah) said: "What prevented you (O Iblis) that you did not prostrate, when I commanded you'' Iblis said: "I am better than him (Adam), You created me from fire, and him You created from clay.'')

Angels knew that humans would cause corruption because before humans, Jinn had roamed the earth and had already waged countless wars on earth. (Jinn and Humans are the only two creations with freewill) So angels had a pretty good idea what someone with free will can do.

-----------------

3. Who was the first muslim: Any one who submits his will to Allah is called Muslim. So Adam was the 1st human who was muslim. Or any other creature Allah created before him that submitted his will to Allah.

Say, "Indeed, my Lord has guided me to a straight path - a correct religion - the way of Abraham, inclining toward truth. And he was not among those who associated others with Allah ." Say, "Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah , Lord of the worlds. No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first [among you] of the Muslims."

These verses already say that Ibrahim and the prophets before him had already submitted their will to Allah. So i don't see whats the point here.

----------------------

4. Can Allah be seen and did Muhammad see his Lord? Allah has not shown himself to Muhammad(P.B.U.H) or to any other prophet or Angle for all i know and this is never mentioned here. In fact Gabriel specifically mentions to Muhammad(P.B.U.H) and he can not cross Sidrat al-Muntaha as his wings would burn. However Allah did spoke to Muhammad (P.B.U.H) directly through a veil. This is mentioned in Isra and Meraj.
Those verses of Surah An Najam mention that Muhammad (P.B.U.H) saw the Greatest signs of Allah at Sidrat al-Muntaha and not Allah himself. Because as i mentioned no creature can cross Sidrat al-Muntaha but only Muhammad (P.B.U.H) did and Talked to Allah behind a veil.
These verses 1st mention the sighting of Gabriel's True Form and then the sighting of Allah's greatest sign but not Allah himself.

I can go all night taking these claims out 1 by 1...might even end up writing a book lol.

Allah has not shown himself to Muhammad(P.B.U.H) or to any other prophet or Angle for all i know and this is never mentions here.

If it isn't obvious by his post above yours, this guy isn't someone you should be taking seriously, and he certainly isn't someone who cares for discussion, only asserting his own point as correct and putting down whoever he's talking to. He's simply stubborn in his resilience against pretty much anything religious. You'll go no where with him, so don't waste your time.

i've come to the conclusion that the people who don't want to believe in God, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary, are the the ones who are afraid, afraid that if they acknowledge God then they'll be bound and will have to follow the commandments and will have to pay for their actions after death.

So how come atheists don't commit more crimes than theists?

You do realize what constitutes for a crime with a countries law isn't the same as a crime with God's laws? Not to mention said crimes also have puninshments like jail time or whatever.

But that's not to say atheists are inherently bad people or that they don't commit crimes simply because of the punishments the Gov. have in place, as humans are inherently good and a large portion of our natural instincts, though not always, are in tune with what is right and what is wrong.
